The Protestant church in Humpolec stands on Husova Street, that is, in the area of the former quarter known as České město. It follows on from an older Toleration church on Zichpil. Since 2012, the church together with the rectory and school has been protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.
The first Protestant chapel in Humpolec was built in 1785. It was a small Toleration church on Zichpil. However, it lay somewhat apart. Protestants lived mainly in České město, that is, on today's Havlíčkovo Square and in its surroundings. Zichpil was inhabited mainly by Jews, who also had their Jewish quarter not far away, and Catholics. They concentrated mainly around today's Upper and Lower Square.
The Protestant community therefore gradually built its facilities right in České město. In 1852 they built a school there, and two years later a rectory was added.
