The Evangelical Church in the Columnica, located in the village of Dolní Sloupnice in the district of Svitavy, is a classical monument from 1795 and symbolizes the spiritual freedom which was allowed by the Tolerance patent issued in 1781. Originally built as a prayer house of the Czech Brotherhood Church evangelical, the church is remarkable by its history and architecture that reflects the rich religious heritage of the area. Founded as part of the evangelical choir of the Helvetian religion, it became a key center for many other philistines.

The history of the church dates back to 1783, when the evangelical reformed choir of the Helvetian religion was founded in the Column soon after the Tolerance Patent was issued. The first preacher was János Breznay, who came from Hungary and preached at the same time in nearby Jbana. The congregation originally settled in a cottage which was adapted on a parish for preachers. After Brezniya came two other priests from Hungary: András Ákoss and István Wassárhélyi. For a long time, the congregation could not agree with the village where the evangelical church would be built and therefore the services were performed in private houses. Finally, the church was built above the village at about the same height as the Roman Catholic church. At the time of András Akos, the church was ceremoniously consecrated and opened on 28 November 1795.

Architecturally, it is a small triangular church with a volute shield in the facade that carries a chalice. There is a small hall in front of the ventilation room and the actual choir room has a flat ceiling. Originally, the construction was shorter, but in 1855 it was expanded and rebuilt, which probably included a change in the original layout. Another significant reconstruction took place in 1911 when the interior was changed and the valuable painted ceiling was plastered.

Preachers originally lived in cottage no. 56, which the choir bought in 1783. It was only in 1785 that she bought another cottage with the number of the description sheet 1785 and in its place she built in 1858-1860 a storey rectory which is still functional today. The Evangelical Cemetery was founded in the 1880s in an inappropriate place designated by the municipality. In 1786 he was moved to a new place which was also not suitable, and only in 1810 he got to the present place.

In 1918 the congregation in the Column entered the Czech Brotherhood Church of the Evangelical when the Helvet and Lutheran choirs joined. This church was an important centre for many other philistines in the nearby and further surroundings, such as Jbanov, Choceň, Litomyšl and Česká Třebová.

Today evangelický kostel ve Sloupnici is a monument protected by the Department of Nature Protection and the Czech Republic. His history and architecture make him an important cultural monument worth visiting. The church is a testament to spiritual freedom and the rich religious tradition of the region, which makes it not only historical but also cultural milestone for every traveller.
