Fara v Kounicích Parish house

Fara v Kounicích is a Baroque building from the first quarter of the 18th century. It is located near the church of St. James the Greater in the village Kounice in the district of Nymburk. It was registered as a cultural monument on 31 December 1965 and belongs to the Roman Catholic parish Český Brod. Its architecture represents a typical style which was at that time dominant in Central Europe.

The formation of the Kounice rectory affected the wider cultural and political context of the first quarter of the 18th century. This period characterised political stability under the Habsburg government in Austria and intensive cultural development, which contributed to the construction of many baroque buildings throughout the region.

The architecture of the rectory is typically baroque. There are three window axes on the front face and two on the side side. The facade is divided by the embedded fields and the risalite with the lizene frame, dominated by a triangular shield. Window linings are sandstone or stucco. The north side with blinded windows gives the building an interesting look. The entrance corridor is arched by a vaulted vault with triangular privileges. Next to it is a wooden staircase with resting areas and a compressed vaults. The upstairs rooms have flat ceilings, there is a brick floor at the entrance to the attic. The south part of the building is under-glued corridors and one of the vaulted cellars.

The history of the administration and property position of the Kounice rectory is not fully documented in the sources. As a cultural monument, however, it is now under the administration of the Roman Catholic parish Český Brod, which confirms its importance and care for the preservation of the building.

An interesting feature of the rectory is the location of the statue of St. John Nepomuk near it, which increases its historical and cultural value. Visitors' attention is also attracted by blind windows on the north side and undercellar with valené construction.
