Panská sladovna in Kounice is a historic building located in front of the castle in the former Lichtenstein brewery. Its present appearance was created by Baroque reconstruction in 1779 and since 1958 it has been protected as a cultural monument. The building is remarkable not only by its architectural solution, but also by a rich history dating back to the 16th century.

The first written mention of the construction dates back to 1590, indicating its long history in the region. During the Baroque period when the reconstruction took place, cities and farms developed in Bohemia. This link helps to understand the importance of the object not only as an industrial facility, but also as part of a wider cultural and economic transformation.

The Panská sladovna is significantly influenced by the Baroque style. The facade is decorated with Ionian Pilasters, Lizards and stucco mirrors, which increase the aesthetic value of the building. In the shield there is a statue of St. Wenceslas, patron saint of malts, and stone petals in the shape of hop cones. These elements not only decorate the building but also reflect its original purpose associated with malt production.

The ownership of the Panské malovna is as interesting as its architecture. The oldest known owners from 1590 handed over the building to the brothers Klusáček, who bought the brewery from the family Liechtenstein in 1884. In 1900 the brewery was shut down and the facility was converted into a malting plant. After nationalization in 1948, the building became a part of the state enterprise Prostějov Business Sládovna. In 1992, the operation was returned to the Klušáčky family, which allowed the production of beer in the craft brewery to be restored since 2012.

Among the key events in the history of the malting plant is its conversion from brewery to malting house in 1900 and subsequent modernization. On the first floor there was a place where barley malt was germinated, which was typical of the equipment at the time.

Today, Panská sladovna stands as a witness to rich history and architectural art. The status of cultural heritage highlights its importance for regional heritage. It offers visitors not only a view of the beautiful Baroque architecture, but also an opportunity to become familiar with the history of local industry and beer production.
