The Chapel of the Virgin Mary is located south of the city of Rokytná in the district of Znojmo. It is a cultural monument of the Czech Republic and an important historical monument. This Gothic building is located at a height of 280 metres above sea level in the national nature reserve of Krumlovsk-rokytene blindness and is part of the educational path. The chapel, built on a floor plan of a regular octagonal, is known for its Gothic portal and window wall with deep scaled profiling. Its history dates back to the 19th century, when it was built over the Marian well as an important source of water for the people.

The history of the chapel begins in 1836, when it was built above the Marian well. This spring served as a key source of water and led to the position of the chapel. In 1847 it was demolished because of the gradual loss of water, but already the following year it was rebuilt at the expense of the village Rokytná, knížete z Lichtenštejna and citizens of Moravian Krumlov. In 1936-1937 the water of three springs was seduced into a newly built pit next to the chapel, but due to World War II the planned water supply was not completed. In 1971 the chapel was repaired and consecrated, which meant its renewal for religious respect. In 1989 the water pipeline was disconnected from the wells and the municipality Rokytná connected to the Krumlov water pipeline. The chapel was repaired again in 2018 with financial support from the Rural Development Programme of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic.

The architecture of the chapel is characteristic of the Gothic style, which is evident on the portal and window lining with deep scaled profile. Its ground plan of a regular octagonal, smooth facade divided by a suspect and a main ledge, as well as an octave-shaped needle roof covered with bimonas with a poppy and metal cross, adds moving aesthetic elements. The interior of the chapel is decorated with a cupola polygonal ceiling, which gives the space a religious atmosphere.

The chapel of the Virgin Mary belonged to the Roman Catholic parish Moravian Krumlov in the deanery of Moravian Krumlov. Over the years, the chapel has been managed by various institutions and municipalities, reflecting its importance to the local community. Key events include the position over the Marian well, the demolition and the re-status of the chapel, repairs and consecutions in 1971, as well as recent adaptations in 2018.
