On the slope below the Vyskře summit stands a massive stone Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. It is a Roman Catholic parish church, which with its Romanesque ashlar construction dominates the entire village. A cemetery surrounds it together with a wooden bell tower. From its upper entrance, a Way of the Cross leads to the Chapel of Saint Anne. From this location, views open up to the surrounding countryside, including views of Humprecht among others.
A Gothic church once stood on this site, which apparently dated from the thirteenth century, or at the latest from the fourteenth century. The present building was constructed in 1914 and 1915 according to a design by Turnov architect Karel Salač. He incorporated elements of the old building into the new church. An early Gothic portal to the sacristy has been preserved, as well as parts of sculptural decoration from the second half of the fifteenth century, for example the keystone. Overall, however, the church is aligned with individual modernism. As a cultural monument, it has been protected since November sixteenth, two thousand and four.
The church tower also has its living inhabitants. A colony of jackdaws has been nesting in it for several decades.
West of the church stands a folk bell tower, which was preserved from the original church complex. It has an octagonal timber-frame ground floor. Above it is a receding boarded square tower storey with a shingle roof. The construction is purely post-and-beam: diagonal braces support the main load-bearing post. The present form of the bell tower dates from seventeen fifty, and it was restored in eighteen thirty.
The bells have had a turbulent history. In seventeen fifty, two bells were hung in the bell tower. The bell Maria from seventeen twenty-three weighed three hundred and fourteen kilograms and had a diameter of eighty-three centimetres. Originally it hung in the church tower, from where it was lowered into the bell tower. In nineteen seventeen, during the First World War, it was requisitioned. The older bell Václav from sixteen seventeen was cast by bell founder Martin Schrötter the Younger. It weighs two hundred and twenty-seven kilograms and has a diameter of seventy-five centimetres. It was requisitioned during the Second World War. After the war, however, it was found in Prague, returned to Vyskře, and was hung in the church tower.
