The Church of Saint Catherine stands in the middle of Olšové Vraty, in German called Espenthor, one of the city districts of Karlovy Vary. It belongs to the Plzeň diocese and is a subsidiary church of the parish of Stanovice. It has been a cultural monument since 1964.
The originally fortified Gothic church with a cemetery was probably founded in 1246. It is first mentioned in 1257 as one of three subsidiary churches of the Loket parish church of Saint Václav. By 1352 it is already listed as a parish church. It remained a parish church until around 1490, when a new church of Saint Michael the Archangel was consecrated in Andělská Hora and the Olšové Vraty church became its subsidiary.
The present building probably dates from the end of the 15th century. In 1736 the church received new interior furnishings. It acquired its present form during a partial Baroque reconstruction and extension between 1838 and 1843. In 1972 the roof was given new shingle roofing.
