Kostel svatého Floriána v Lázních Toušeň Church

Welcome to the Lover Spa. Right now, you're standing on the eastern part of the village in front of a beautiful Roman Catholic filial church dedicated to Saint Florian. Take a deep breath, look around you, and let the atmosphere of this quiet place affect you. A building that has been an integral part of the landscape since the end of the nineteenth century and proudly bears the status of protected real estate cultural monument of the Czech Republic.

Let us return together in time to the time when this sanctuary was created. The history of this place began in the spring of 1889. Back in April, the foundation stone was laid and construction works started according to the design of the gifted architect Louis Lábler. The whole work grew pleasantly under the hands of craftsmen and the local people got the result a year later. The ceremonial consecration of the church took place on the fourth of May in 1890. The whole building is in the historic style of the late nineteenth century, which gives it unfocused charm and elegance.

Now pay attention to the construction itself before you. It is a walled and plastered, unoriented building that at first sight captures its solid and clean disposition. Note the rectangular plan of the main ship and the following rectangular presbytery. If you look at the southwest side of the building, you'll see an adjacent sacristy. The overall material arrangement is very harmonious and balanced, just as the architectural plans required.

Interestingly enough, although it's a 19th-century building, he didn't leave time without a trace. The people of the Spa of Desperation have a deep relationship with their church, which was fully revealed in the early 21st century. In 2005 an extensive general repair of the church was launched, which was intended to return her memory to its passing glory and stop the tooth of time. This demanding reconstruction lasted until 2006. On the 20th of May that year, the church was reconsecrated after the completion of the general repair, starting a new chapter in its modern existence.

Imagine the generations of people walking on the same page today. Saint Florian, patron saint and protector of the fires, looked upon them from this place for decades. This church was not only a witness of everyday days, but also a moment of joy, holidays and difficult trials of the local community. Architect Ludvík Lábler left behind a work that still links the past to the present.
