St. Linhart's Church in Kdousov, located in the district of Třebíč and Vysočina Region, is a late baroque one-boat building with elements of Classicism. It is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic and stands on the site of the original church from the 11th or 12th century, which attracts visitors with its historical depth.

The first written mention of the village and the church dates back to 1342. In 1597 the church was sold to the collegiate chapter of St. Morice in Kromeriz. The new church began to be built in 1753 and completed in 1763. The beginning of the building was caused by the pastor Karl Poisl, who had the parish building rebuilt in Kdousov and built the church of St. Catherine in nearby Slavikovice. The construction of the new church was continued by the pastor Ignác Sukup, who studied architecture at Matthias Kirchmayer. The church was consecrated on July 2, 1767.

Architecturally, it is a late Baroque building with elements of advancing classicism. It has a priesthood, the chapel of the Virgin Mary the Painful left of the priesthood and the sacristy with the oratory right. A square tower is located above the risalite. The interior contains a circle with organami from the classical period, three altars and a cross road with twelve paintings. Sculpture decoration comes from Václav Böhm, author also pulpit and baptielnice. The paintings on the predeles are the work of František Vavríc Korompay.

The ownership of the church changed in 1597 when the College Capitol of St. Morice was sold in Kroměříž. Key events include repairs and new blessing of church organ in 1997, as well as new painting of church in 2011.

Today the Church of Saint Linhart is an important religious centre for the Roman Catholic parish Kdousov and a valuable cultural monument. Its architecture and art decoration represent an interesting transition from Baroque to classical artistic direction of the 18th century. It is an attractive place for visitors to view the history and architecture of the region.

Welcome to Kdousov, a small and quiet village in Vysočina, where you are just in front of one of the most famous monuments of this part of the Czech Republic. In front of you is the church of St. Linhart, whose baroque lines and classicist elements will immediately interest you. This church is not only an architectural work of art, but also a page of the lively history of this area.

The church of St. Linhart was built in the late 18th century as a consequence of the need to replace the older sacral building from the 11th or 12th century, which was already in this place. We have the first written mention of the church and the village itself from 1342, which shows the long history of this place. In 1597, events changed significantly when the church was sold to the collegiate Capitol of St. Morice in Kromeriz, which affected other fates of this place. The new stage in the history of the church was 1766, when the first written mention of the construction of the new church appeared, and the following year, 1767, is the year of its consecration. The architects Matyáš Kirchmayer and Ignác Sukup are behind its implementation, whose talent and artistic thinking you can now personally appreciate.

Look up at the tower of the church that is built over the risalite. Its square form gives the building a balance and attracts attention with its elegance. Note the estranged priesthood, which is supplemented by the Chapel of Our Lady of Pain, which adds further depth and spiritual meaning to the church. The sacristy with the oratory served as a private space for the priest, thus giving the whole complex a more intimate atmosphere.

Let's move on to the key stories and personalities associated with this place. Although particular historical figures are not recorded, every plate on the facade, every stone element tells us a story about the people who created and maintained this building. The Church of Saint Linhart is proof of how faith and art can form our civilization together.

The interesting thing about this monument is its ability to overcome time. We are here in a place where spiritual and social events have been taking place for over a thousand years. Think about how many generations went through this church, each with its own stories, hopes and fears.

Now that you've seen the church of St. Linhart, the invitation is open to further explore this fascinating place. Let yourself be approached not only by the beauty of architecture, but also by the deep historical layers surrounding this church. And when you decide to leave, keep a memory of this place where the past and the present so harmonically exist together.

Thank you for your visit to St. Linhart's Church in Kdousov. We hope your tour was full of discoveries and inspiration. May our journey meet with other hidden treasures of Czech history.
