Welcome. You're standing in front of one of the most important places around here. In front of your eyes is the church of the saints Simon and Judy in Ondrejov. Before you take the first step towards his door, stop for a moment and perceive the overall form of this building. Look at her silhouette against the sky. The dominance that will interest you immediately is the prism tower that stands in the west front. But notice something unusual. This tower is not only glued to the main part of the building, but it is partially immersed in it, as if with the church ship it formed one indivisible whole. This way of building creates a very interesting and firm impression that will prepare you for what you find inside. Feel the calm atmosphere floating around these walls.

Let us now look together deeper into time. This building is not just a cluster of rocks and mortar, it is a living chronicle that tells the story of many centuries. Its roots go very deep into the past, until the Roman era. This means that this space was here a very long time ago when the world formed quite differently. For centuries, however, the church was constantly changing in order to meet the needs of the people and at the time. Every new era has left its unmistakable mark. In 16 hundred and sixty-eight, the building underwent a major Baroque reconstruction, which gave it a new look and richness. Later, in the year seventy-six of the eighteenth century, the statue of St. John Nepomuk joined local spiritual life. In the nineteenth century, there were other building modifications that led to the shape that you see today. It's a fascinating journey from medieval beginnings to more modern modifications that took place right under your feet.

Now, when you get closer, pay attention to the architecture and details that may reveal themselves to you. The church has a one-piece structure, one main ship, which ends with a half-circle apside. On the north side you will find a sacristy, a space designed for the needs of spiritual service. When you finally get inside, prepare to be rich and welcome. The inner space is very richly decorated. Please pay attention to the pulpit, which is decorated with reliefs, i.e. these carved paintings that tell their stories. Also look at the baptizer, which comes from the Empire and represents a different style than the baroque elements that you will find here. And the most interesting thing is, when you look up to the top of the ship, you see a flat ceiling that is raised in a way that resembles a mirror. This effect creates a special sense of space and light in the inner space.

In this sacred space it is also necessary to mention the names associated with it. One of the most important men for today's church appearance was Josef Mathausser. This artist left a permanent trail in Ondrej. His work, namely his painting, adorns the main altar. This painting was placed in its place in the 189th century and gives the whole space depth and spiritual importance. When you look at the altar, try to imagine the work of this man's hands and how his work links the faithful to what's too much.

If you're looking for something that would really interest you, focus your view on the north side wall. If you look closely, you can still see the remnants of the old fresco. These remains are like whispers from ancient times, like shadows of the past that refuse to be completely erased. It's fascinating how different centuries intersect in one space. This church is not static, he constantly developed his shape. From the Romanesque beginnings to the Baroque changes to the 19th century, there were constantly things that changed the face of this place. It's like a layered book where each layer represents a different chapter in human quest for beauty and sanctity.
