Křížkův mlýn is a remarkable object located in the village of Vysoký Chlumec, specifically in the part of Bláhý Lhota. It is a late Gothic building that combines a walled mill with a grafted residential part. Part of the complex is also a grafted hoarder and an open wooden shed. The whole complex represents an important example of historical water architecture in the region.

The object has a late Gothic core that comes from the late Middle Ages. The grafted parts were built in the 18th century. On the entrance Gothic stone portal is dating 1507. The entrance to the residential area is in the wall part a stone portal to the hall with a flat ceiling and brick floor. From the hall, it continues straight into the black kitchen, encircled by the vaults. On the left is the entrance to the skylight and chamber, which have flat beam ceilings dating back to 1798. The mill is built of stone with lower floors, with a formatted east wall, in which were shafts for water wheels in the fridge. To the north side of the mill there is a low stone annex covered by a counter roof, in which there was a rise and an oil press. The mill has a valb roof originally covered by the canopy, which was replaced by shingles. On the roof is a chimney with a ledge head, above the entrance to the residential area is a skyline, which served hay. In the south grafted wall there is one window to the skylight, in the west grafted wall there are two windows, one to the skylight and the other to the chamber. The rectangular windows have internal shutters. In the wall part there are two saddled Gothic not high portals with wide granite lining.

The hoarder is a grafted building on a tall suspect with a wooden wig. There's a gothic saddle portal in the suspect. In front of the east side of the yard, there is a high wall of accumulation tank into which the electric drive was released from the east. He led in parallel with the Pops stream, from which he collected water above. Along the drive, the group has been growing since 1981 protected by 30 memorable summer oak trees.

In the mill in 1875 there were three water wheels for the top water, two of which were powered by grinding equipment and one of the steps. Another device was a saw that burned down in 1791. In 1925 presented two compositions and ascent.

In 1740, the Jesuit Friday Antonín Koniáš was supposed to burn so-called heretical books that he confiscated in the area. According to legend, there were two witches who hid a human skull in the wall. They kept it in the mill before they died. The skull was discovered when the miller's brother was about to go for a vandal and hit the door wall with a stick. A rock rolled out of the wall and a skull appeared. After the meeting, one of them buried her in a meadow by the woods. They say horses haven't wanted to graze there since.

Křížkův mlýn is a protected cultural monument of the Czech Republic today. In the past, a museum was established here in 1959. The mill was owned by the Sosnovce family (until the 1970s), Vladimír Wiesner (1970s) and the Macourk family (1993). The last owner of the Sosnovce family sold the mill in the 1970s to the cameraman Vladimir Wiesner. Other owners were the Macourk family (1993). The film writer Miloš Macourek stayed in the mill (2002).

Welcome to the Cross Mill. You have just stopped in a quiet part of the village Vysoký Chlumec, specifically in Mluhý Lhota, where you are welcomed by the quiet ruckus of the Pops creek. You are standing in front of a place that is not just an ordinary building, but a living witness of centuries that has flowed here as relentlessly as the water in this stream. In front of your eyes is a unique whole that combines the strength of stone and the warmth of wood. Feel this atmosphere, feel the calm that prevails here, and prepare to travel back in time.

Look at the building that now surrounds you. The first thing you can see is a fascinating combination of various building techniques and materials. Křížkův mlýn is not just one object, it is a harmonious whole, which represents an important example of historical water architecture throughout our region. You can see the walled mill, which acts firmly and unwavering, and the adjacent grafted residential part, which supplies the entire area with a human, home dimension. This contrast between the hardness of masonry and the softness of wood is precisely what makes this place so special. This whole complex, including the grafted shovels and open wooden shed, is a complete story about how people have used the power of water for life and life for centuries.

Now I want to take you even deeper into history. If you look at the core of the main building itself, you realize you're not looking at the work of recent times. The core of this mill comes from the late Middle Ages. This means that when you look at these walls now, you're touching history that goes deep into a time when the world around us seemed much more simple, but at the same time much more challenging. This late Gothic base reworked over time forms a solid pillar on which all other extensions were built. Notice how architecture changed over the centuries. While the core is medieval, the grafted parts you see now were built in the eighteenth century. This layering of history is what makes the Crožkova Mill such a rare object.

Now let's focus on the specific details that you have right in front of you. If you approach the building, please pay attention to the entry Gothic stone portal. It's one of the most important elements of the entire object. Look at him carefully. On its surface is engraved year 1507. This dating is unshakable evidence that this stone element has been standing here for over five centuries. It's like a gateway to the past that puts you right in the heart of history. This portal is not just the entrance to the house, it is the signature of the time that once ruled here.

If we look at the whole, don't even ignore other wooden structures in the compound. The grafted shovels and the open wooden shed complement the overall structure and show us what the functional rural and economic space must have looked like. Every beam, every plank in these buildings tells the story of the craftsmanship of the people who lived and worked here.

But the history of this place has not always been a peaceful course of years. The mill had to face not only changes in architecture, but also fateful events. Did you know that there was a great test here in 1791? A saw burned out. Imagine the moment, the fear and impact it meant to the people back then. Yet the mill recovered from this destruction and continued its service. Another important milestone, which marks the end of an era, came in 1890. That was the year of the last grinding in the mill. Since then, the stone has not turned and the grain has not turned, but instead a whole new chapter has begun to be written here.

This mill was not just a grinding machine, it was a space that formed human destinies. Although their names may not appear in every textbook, they are inseparably linked to this place. Names like Antonín Koniáš, Vladimír Wiesner or Miloš Macourek have left a trail in the history of this place. It is precisely this human presence, these fates associated with water, work and home, which supply the Crožkova mill with its true soul.

You might find one interesting thing that links the past to the present. Křížkův mlýn has transformed from a functional economic object to a memory storage site. A museum was set up here in 1959. This means that a place that used to serve hard physical work and the production of flour has become a place for education, observation and wonder over history. This transformation from the mill into a cultural monument is a fascinating story about how we value our heritage as a society.

Now that you've been through basic history and architecture, I suggest you move on. Look at the texture of the wood in detail, look for clues of time in the stone and see how the architecture of the mill has adapted to people's needs for centuries. Get carried away by the atmosphere of Foolish Lhota and the Cheetah River. Every corner of this compound has its own silent story waiting to be discovered. Thank you for spending this moment with us and for choosing to pay attention to this precious piece of our history. We wish you a pleasant next part of your tour.
