Lékárna U Zlaté hvězdy

Lékárna U Zlaté hvězdy, No. 3, is the oldest house in Unhost. It is located in the heart of the city in a monument zone on Dr. Beneš's class, next to Melichar's native museum and near St. Peter and Paul's church. The first written mention of the construction dates back to 1407. The originally medieval house was later renaissance. In the past, two separate houses formed this place, the border of which today marks risalite. From the time of the Renaissance, the facade of the ground floor preserved a complex portal with segmental arch, rounded vaults and top vaults. There is a window in the portal with a semicircular lock. The vaults are preserved throughout the ground floor. The facade of the house is simple, the floor separates the post-day ledge at five windows lined with champagne. The roof is valbic with ceramic bags and the house also includes a side entrance to the rear yard.

The house has been changing in the hands of many owners over the centuries. The first known owners were married to Shebest. At the end of the 16th century, the house was held by Protestant Matej Lauren, who had to leave Bohemia after the White Mountain. His property was acquired by imperial decision by the municipality Unhošť, which then sold it to Urbana of Petinko. However, he did not pay the full amount and therefore sold everything to the owner of Křivoklát Tiburci Castle from Olbramovice. After his death, the house was owned by his daughter Sybil Polyxena Elznica for 30 years. In 1676- 1711 the property was the property of the municipality. In 1722 the house was purchased by the married Josef and Barbora Česlavi, who later sold it to the married Rack. After their death, it was auctioned off to a married man named Vyšín. Ignac Vyšín then in 1801 left his estate to his daughter Anna, married to Josef Svoboda. He then sold the house to Martin Wolf and then to Havel Barcal.

Master Barcal was a native of Rychnov above the Priest. The romantic surroundings of Unhošt'ost with the flow of Duck reminded him of the native region. In 1815, he obtained permission to set up a pharmacy. He set up a well-equipped facility in the building and put up a painted "The Golden Star" shield at the entrance. Havel Barcal married in Unhost and had three children: John, Joseph and Mary. After buying the distillery, the pharmacist started to produce various distillates, which helped him increase his sales and attracted many customers from the city and the surrounding area. In 1848 he handed the pharmacy to Jan's son, who also studied pharmacy in Prague. Jan later founded a pharmacy at the Czech Crown in Kladno in 1864, where he also moved. He died in 1862.

The pharmacy prospered and was very well supplied. In 1864- 1874 her tenant was Master of Václav Stárek, in 1874- 1877 František Vorlíček. Since 1877, PharmDr. Josef Dundr, the husband of one of Jan Barcal's daughters, has led the pharmacy. After his death in 1914, she was run by the widow Jana Dundra with two daughters, Maria and Anna. The younger daughter Anna, who graduated from pharmacy (1913), maintained the pharmacy in the war years. Another tenant was František Vančura (1919- 1930), who subsequently moved to Kutná Hora. Then there was PharmDr. Josef Hřebek. The thriving pharmacy was visited not only by the city's inhabitants, but also by many visitors - for example by tramps from around the Duck. After the termination of the lease, Anna Šnajdrová and her daughter Jaroslav took over again, who also studied pharmacy. In 1873- 1874 there was also a teacher and composer Franz Joseph Pelz. Jaroslav and František Procházka became new owners in 1956. The pharmacy was not cancelled until 1990.

Today the house is privately owned and serves as a hardware store. Lékárna U Zlaté hvězdy is remarkable with its history and architecture and offers an interesting view of the history of the city of Unhošť.
