V letech 1993–1994 vyrobili akademičtí sochaři Jan Bradna a Jiří Novotný kopii odcizěné sochy z umělého kamene.
Navštívení tohoto místa nabízí vhled do barokní spirituality a regionálních dějin.

Welcome to Mariánský sloup in Chodov! You are standing before an impressive baroque masterpiece that boldly juts into the sky and captivates with its historical layers. Beneath your feet lies a sandstone base adorned with the Plankenhaim coat of arms, already hinting at the rich past of this master artist. If you look closely, atop the column stands a statue of the Virgin Mary on a cloud with cherubic heads, symbolizing religious devotion and artistic skill of that era.
Let's delve into history. This column was erected in 1675 by Jan Vilém z Plankenheimu in honor of the Most Holy Virgin Mary. At that time, baroque architecture was not only an artistic expression but also a religious one, uniting faith with the social status of the nobility. The column was consecrated in 1704 by Johann Carlem Pellettem de Hundem, emphasizing its spiritual significance.
Look up and you'll see the elegant statue of the Virgin Mary. It is identical to how the column was intended: as an invitation to prayer and solace. Also notice the details on the base – the Plankenhaim coat of arms is proof of the family's lineage and influence in this region.
There are several key figures associated with Mariánský sloup. Jan Vilém z Plankenheimu was not just a nobleman, but also a patron of art and faith. Johann Carl Pellet de Hund then underscored its spiritual significance during the consecration. Architects like Jan Bradna and others contributed their talent to make this column an iconic symbol of the baroque era.
An interesting fact is that Mariánský sloup has gone through several phases in its existence. In 1975, it was relocated due to construction work and excavation for a heating pipeline. These were unusual steps that show its adaptability and importance even in a changed environment.
Now, what can you do? Look around and notice how the column with its dimensions and placement affects the overall landscape. What emotions does its presence evoke in you? Is it a place of peace or inspiration?
