Meat shops in Moravian Budejovice are a classical museum built in 1839, located on Purcner Street in Třebíč district. The original buildings stood in the middle of today's Square of Peace and served as a meat market until 1837, when they were demolished under pressure from citizens. New classicist shops with 12 shops were created in 1839 and operated until the 1930s when they became the administration of various associations for club activities. After a long period of neglect they underwent reconstruction in 1972 and started to serve as a museum. In the years 2001- 2002 a general repair took place, after which the building became part of the Museum of Crafts with the exhibition of lost or disappearing crafts and industrial production.

The first written mention of meat products dates back to 1522. In the middle of the nineteenth century, intensive urbanization and industrial development took place in Europe, affecting the architectural trends of the period. Classicism remained popular within the Austrian monarchy, which is also evident in the construction of this shop.

The architecture of the building is a ground-floor three-track classical building with a horseshoe plan open to the street. Smooth facades are broken down by lizenas and the saddle roof is covered by a giant. The inner courtyard closes a stone wall with a segmentally sealed gate. This architectural style and construction are characteristic of the period of creation of the shops.

The building became part of the cultural heritage of Moravian Budejovice after several phases of use and reconstruction. After the demolition of the original shop, new ones were built based on the demands of citizens who wanted to remove the old building from the city centre. The 1972 reconstruction allowed the building to serve as a museum, while the general repair modernized it between 2001 and 2002.

Today, meat junk is not only a historical monument, but also a place where visitors can learn about lost and disappearing crafts. The Museum of Crafts exhibits offer a view of the industrial production of the past and provide an interesting and educational experience.

Meat junk is now more than a historical monument; are the place where the past meets the present. For visitors they offer a unique view of life and crafts of the extinct times. Their history and architecture make them an unmistakable part of the cultural heritage of the Moravian Budejovice, which is why they are worth visiting.

We invite you to come personally to learn more about this fascinating monument and its rich historical context. Meat junk not only retains the past, but also inspires thinking about the development of urban spaces and crafts.

Welcome to this historic place in the Moravian Budejovice, where we are standing in front of the Meat Stories, which today serve as the Museum of Crafts. You see in front of you a classicist building with a horseshoe shape, open to Purcner Street. Her elegant line and historical beauty welcomed you as the first impression of this monument.

Let's immerse ourselves in its origin and historical context. The first mention of meat junk dates back to 1522, but these buildings were not built on the site of today's meat junk. The original meat markets were demolished in 1837 on the pressure of citizens, which opened the way for a new building. In 1839, a classicist object was completed that we see today. This architecture is a testament to the times and needs of the era.

Look up at the facade of the building and notice its symmetry and elegant design that characterizes the classicism. The building has twelve shops and is open to the street, making it an ideal place for market activity and later for various associations.

The key story associated with this place is its transformation after 1930. After the demise of the original functions as a meat market, the building experienced several changes of use and was eventually reconstructed for museum purposes in 1972. This adaptation shows how the local community was trying to preserve the historical value of the building.

The interesting thing is that Meat Stones worked as a market until the 1930s when they started serving various associations for club activities. This variable history gives the place a unique atmosphere and reminder of past times.

Now that you've learned of her rich inheritance, the invitation is for further examination. Enter the building and make sure you notice the exhibitions and details that will help you better understand the history of this place.

Thank you for coming to the meat shop. I hope you feel at home and will be happy to remember this experience in Moravian Budejovice. Whether you visit another historic place or come back to us, I wish you a comfortable journey and many new discoveries!
