Přítoky Fortress

Přítoky is a partially preserved Renaissance manor house located in the village of Přítoky, west of Kutná Hora in the Středočeský region. Originally built as an administrative seat for the Kutná Hora economic court, it later served as a noble residence for the Materna family from Květnice. The site is notable for its transformation through various historical phases, including Jesuit ownership during the Thirty Years' War and eventual division into two residential homes in the 18th century.

The origins of Přítoky trace back to the mid-15th century when it was constructed as a Gothic fortress. By the end of the 14th century, the village had been divided into two parts, one of which included this fortress. Initially owned by Kutná Hora citizens, it became an administrative center for their economic court. The first documented transaction occurred in 1454 when Jan Soukeník sold the fortress to Jan Malškorubský. Subsequently, in 1462, Jan Gebhart acquired it from Jan Malškorubský as payment for a debt. By 1501, Voršila Cihelníková sold the estate to Václav Matern z Květnice, marking its transformation into a Renaissance manor under the Materna family.

Architecturally, Přítoky evolved significantly over time. The original Gothic structure was transformed by the Materna family into a Renaissance-style manor house. This transition included significant modifications in the 18th and early 20th centuries, such as new entrances, staircases, and roof changes. Today, only parts of the original structure remain, with the current form consisting of two distinct homes featuring hipped roofs—one made from larch shingles and the other from eternit. The facades are adorned with smooth surfaces divided by stucco bands and framed windows with shutters. Internally, remnants of Renaissance design persist in some areas, including vaulted ceilings with lunettes and corbels.

Ownership of Přítoky changed hands several times throughout its history. After the Materna family's tenure, the Jesuits acquired it during the Thirty Years' War, using it primarily for economic purposes. Following the dissolution of the Jesuit order in the late 18th century, the estate was divided into two homes. Notable owners included Ladislav Hrobčický z Hrobčic and Albrecht Libštejnský z Kolovrat, who played roles in its subsequent transactions.
