The town hall in Boskovice stands on the eastern edge of Masaryk Square. Its architecture and history attracts local and visitors. In 1460-1490 it was built as a shopping house and after several stages of reconstruction it gained today's late Renaissance appearance. The building now serves as a seat of the City Office, Information Centre and Otakara Kubín Gallery.

City Hall history is full of interesting events. Originally, the building was attributed to Ladislav of Boskovice, which is not historically documented. Significant reconstruction in 1567 city hall princely the current late Renaissance character. The city of Boskovice purchased it in 1620, making it part of it. After the fire in 1714, the building was restored a year later, while in 1765 the tower acquired a new pit. Other changes brought fire in May 1823.

Over the years, the town hall has undergone several modifications for various purposes. Between 1851- 1960 there was a district court, which required the construction of a prison and an apartment of a guard. At the beginning of the 20th century the ground floor space was adapted to commercial needs. A reconstruction involving a replacement of windows and new plaster took place in 1955. In 1958, the town hall was listed in the state list of real cultural monuments.

Architectural is an example of the late Renaissance, which went through many stages of construction and repairs. In addition to the recovery after the fire in 1714, extensive repairs of the facade, ceilings and roofs took place in the years 1982- 1993. The tower was opened after reconstruction in 2010. This adjustment included separating the entrance to the tower from the premises of the city office and replacing the old ladder with a new wooden staircase.

Today the town hall operates not only as an administrative centre but also as a cultural centre Boskovice. The Otakara Kubína Gallery shows art works and various exhibitions. The interior of the tower with a new staircase offers visitors a view of the city, thus increasing the attractiveness of this historic building.

Boskovická Town Hall is therefore not only an architectural monument, but also a living part of urban life. Rich history and current functions make it an important place for anyone interested in the history and culture of the region. The visit offers an opportunity not only to admire beautiful building solutions, but also to learn more about the history and development of the city Boskovice.

Welcome to Boskovice, a place full of history and beauty! You are standing in front of the city hall, one of the most important architectural works of this village. This building on the eastern edge of Masaryk Square attracts its elegant and historically rich form, which attracts both local and distant travelers.

The town hall was originally built as a department store in 1460-1490. Despite several fires and reconstruction it has transformed into its present form, which you can appreciate from the first point of view. In 162 the city of Boskovice bought the building and gradually rebuilt it to meet the needs of the population.

Look up at the distinctive facade with its late Renaissance character. Notice the details in the facade that tell about the rich past of this place. This building not only served as a centre of urban activities, but also witnessed many important events and personalities.

You will learn more about one of these historical characters - Ladislav z Boskovic. His affinity with this area and his influence on its development are an integral part of the local legend.

The interesting thing is that since 2010 access to the Town Hall tower has been open to the public. This allows visitors to gain a new view of the city and its surroundings.

Let's move closer so you can see the interior where the city authorities are based today. Now pay attention to the information centre and gallery, which offers interesting exhibits about Boskovice history.

This town hall is not only an architectural work but also a living memory of the city. You can only imagine how many stories have happened here and how many people have walked through these corridors.

I suggest you enjoy the city hall's entire wealth. Let yourself be approached by her history and take time to explore the surrounding Boskovice sites. I hope this guide inspired you to explore this beautiful place again.

With God in your travels, and we'll see you next time!

Tips for visitors

The best time to visit the town hall in Boskovice is early spring or late autumn when the weather is pleasant and the sunlight of the sun is bright on the facade of the building. These periods are ideal for photography because the sun is not very high in the air and shadow effects give historical architectural elements depth.

It is recommended to verify the current connection using the search engine.

When visiting the town hall, take a camera with you because the historical elements of the building such as niche and stucco ornaments are a beautiful topic for photography. Thanks to your location in the square, you can also photograph the overall view of the town hall at different times of the day.

For families with children, the surrounding area of Masaryk Square is suitable because many of them enjoy a walk around the historical centre. Children can enjoy watching details of architecture and possibly playing in the surrounding square.
