Schückova vila Villa

Schückova vila is located in Prague's Troja on the street Nad Kazankou. It's a functional architectural work from the early 20th century. In 2003 it was declared a real estate cultural monument of the Czech Republic. It reflects its unique orientation and rich history as an important historical object. The building represents not only an architectural milestone of functionalism, but also a place with variable functions and owners.

The construction of the Schück Villa was started in 1928, according to the design of the architects Ernst Mühlstein and Viktor Fürth. The building was created for Alexander Schück, a wholesaler and industrialist who has co-owned the bakery empire Fr. Odkolek, s.r.o. in Vysočany since 1912. The implementation was carried out by Václav Haas and the surrounding garden was designed by architect Otokar Fierlinger. The project has typical features of modern architecture, especially the emphasis on aesthetics and functionality.

Architecturally, it is a two-wing, two-storey, panded building with terraced layout. The smooth facade is horizontally divided by balconies, veranda and terraces, giving it a modernist look. The suspect is lined with an opacea that gives the building a solid and elegant character.

The history of the object has undergone some fundamental changes. After completing in 1929 she served as a private residence of Alexander Schück. In the 1970s it became the residence of Gustave Husák, then Czech politician and president of CSSR. Since 2019, the villa has been owned by the Prague-Troja district and serves as a residence of the Republic of Korea, which underlines its current diplomatic role.

In addition to architecture, it fascinates the variable fate of the building. From the private residence to the political centre to the international residence Schückova vila reflects many aspects of Czech history of the 20th century.
