Stará plaská cesta was established in the first half of the 18th century as part of the extensive building of the monastery estate. It was founded as Abbot Evžena Tytl and was to serve as a link between important points of the estate of the Cisterian monastery. The route expressed urban links at the time and requirements for the landscape around the mansion. Despite the indented terrain around Plas, which did not allow strictly direct view links, the road was twisted by tree lines, which clearly expressed the intention of defining it in the landscape.

The route of the historic journey came from the monastery itself in Plásí and rose northeast towards the solitude of Sokolka. From there she continued to the grove of Rouda and further to the statue of St. John Nepomuk on the top of St. John above Hadačka. The journey continued to the economic court of Sechutice, around the Pivovárek pond to the probostness and pilgrimage church of Mariánska Týnice, and eventually led to the economic court of Hubenov. The route thus defined reflected the interpretation of the centre of the monastery property and its individual important buildings.

During the 20th century there was a partial loss of this historic route. The section from Sokolka to Rouda to the statue of St. John Nepomuk became the basis for today's road I / 27, which is however to partially retreat to the planned bypass Plas. The section leading to Secutici and further to Týnica was torn apart and completely destroyed in the field. The section between Plas and Sokolka, which was integrated into the line network and serves as a tourist route, remained preserved. In the Plasas itself, the beginning of the old road became the current street of the Old Road.

In recent years, this landscape element has been partially restored. The Foundation Fund of Mariánska Týnice seeks to gradually regenerate the historical route, so far it has been possible to restore the final part of the section leading from Sechutic to the Green Cross to Mariánska Týnice. The Civic Association Stará cesta Plásy with financial support of the Forests of the Czech Republic created in 2013 a educational trail Stará cesta, which allows visitors to experience history and understand the original urban intention of this important element of the landscape.

The Old Plaská Road is a baroque road that once connected several important buildings on the estate of the Cistercian monastery in Plasy. It was created in the first half of the eighteenth century under abbot Evžen Tytl, during a time of extensive construction on the monastery estate. The road was meant to express the relationships between individual places in the landscape.

The uneven terrain around Plasy did not allow for completely straight sight lines. Nevertheless, the road lined with rows of trees is clear evidence of how people at that time envisioned the landscape around the manor seat.

The route began right at the abbey in Plasy. From there it ascended in a northeastern direction to the settlement of Sokolka and continued to the forester's lodge Rouda. Further on it led to the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk on the hill Svatý Jan nad Hadačkou and then to the farm court Sechutice. Around the fishpond Pivovárek it headed towards the provost's house and pilgrimage church Mariánská Týnice and ended at the farm court Hubenov.

Only some of the original road has been preserved. The section between Plasy and Sokolka remained intact and a red hiking trail now runs along it. In Plasy itself, the beginning of the road transformed into a street that bears the name Stará cesta. The section from Sokolka through Rouda to Saint John of Nepomuk became the foundation of today's first class road number twenty-seven, along which a large number of cars travel. However, this road is partly to be replaced by the planned bypass of Plasy. The section to Sechutice and further to Týnice was ploughed up in the twentieth century and completely disappeared in the fields.

The Mariánská Týnice Foundation Fund is working to gradually restore the road as an important landscape feature. So far, only the final section from Sechutice through the Green Cross to Mariánská Týnice has been restored. In two thousand and thirteen, moreover, the civic association Stará cesta Plasy, with financial support from the Forests of the Czech Republic, built an educational trail along the route of the road, which also bears the name Stará cesta.

Seasonal recommendations

Spring Stará plaská cesta awakens to life in the spring months when the snow melts after winter and the forests are dressed in green and purple shades. The light of the sun, which extends, creates a shadow game on the path and reveals a moist soil that has not yet dried from melting. The air is saturated with the fragrance of blooming bushes and the noise of streams that will disintegrate after winter. The sound background is also specific - the singing of birds, which was quiet in winter, returns with new energy. It is recommended to visit in April when nature offers the most beautiful combination of snow in shady places and the first spring flowers. Practically, it is advisable to wear waterproof clothes and comfortable shoes, as the roads can still be muddy. The best time is early morning when the trail is quiet and light softer than in the noon hours when the first tourist groups can appear.

Summer In summer months, Stará plaská cesta turns into a popular tourist route, where the sun shines almost continuously and temperatures often exceed 25 ° C. Forests are dense and shade of vegetation can be escaped from direct sun, but in open places it is necessary to count on intense UV radiation. Nature offers a rich variety of green shades, accompanied by wild plant flowers and forest tree fruits. In the main summer season it is necessary to count on higher attendance, especially on weekends when the trail can be busier. It is recommended to come early in the morning to avoid crowds, and have plenty of water, light clothes and sun protection. Evening walks are pleasant, but you must count on shorter daylight.

Autumn Autumn on the Old Plastic Road is a time when nature offers a unique variety of colors - from golden leaves to dark red and purple shades. The forests are transformed into a mosaic of shades, which are reflected in mud after rain, and the air is saturated with the scent of fallen leaves and forest fruits. The sun's light is softer than summer, and the rain often brings a foggy atmosphere that gives the landscape a mysterious touch. In this period the trail is quieter than in summer, but it is necessary to count on colder weather and possible rain. Warmer clothes, waterproof shoes and preparation for rapid weather changes are recommended. The best time is the afternoon when the woods dress up in their most beautiful colors and the light is strong enough to reveal the details of the landscape.

Winter Winter visit The old plastic roads offer a completely different experience - the forests are covered with snow, which reduces sounds and creates a calm, almost fairy-tale atmosphere. The light of the sun, reflected from the white coat, turns the landscape into a bright and silvery scenery, while the shadows of the trees create interesting geometric patterns. The air is clean and cold, although cold days can be accompanied by fog, which gives the place a mysterious touch. In winter the trail is usually abandoned, but it is necessary to count on shorter daily hours and possible frozen paths. It is recommended to warm, layered clothing, firm shoes with a good grip profile and preparation for quick temperature changes. The best time is the afternoon when the sun still shines strong enough to illuminate the road, but before sunset, when temperatures start to decrease.
