The prebojská stronghold, now extinct fortification, is located in the village Příboř in the district of Praha- east of the Central Bohemian Region. The fortress is remarkable by its history and protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. Built probably in the 14th century, it served as a residence for local nobility. The fortress was built probably in the 14th century on the banks of the pond, which was typical of medieval development with emphasis on fortifications and the seat of nobles. This period in Bohemia was characterised by political changes and the growth of urban communities, which contributed to the creation of such fortifications.

The architectural fortress was not preserved in its original form. After the destruction of the Hussite troops, it was abandoned and its structure collapsed, resulting in only the remains of the fortress in the form of an irregular quadrilateral until 1996. The fort was aligned during reconstruction and reconstruction of the former farmhouse, today's golf resort with the restaurant.

In 1433, Janek z Krajnice is registered as the owner of the pre-bog estate in the Earth's records. The fortress was burned by Hussite troops this year, one of the key events in its history. After this event, the fort was abandoned and gradually falling apart.

Welcome to the village of the Ancestor. You're standing in a place that's much more than empty space or a piece of earth. Even though you may now think you're looking at a peaceful landscape, try looking at it with different eyes. Feel the atmosphere of this place, the strange silence that carries the echo of ancient events. You're standing in front of the remains of a pre-war fortress, a historic mansion that once determined the rhythm of life throughout this neighborhood. You may not see the high walls or the massive gates that would instantly tip you over with their size, but you still feel the presence of history. This country remembers what happened here hundreds of years ago, and your role today is to perceive and understand this memory.

Let's go back together to the deep 14th century. Imagine a time when security was the greatest value and when power manifested itself through places like this fortress. At that time this building was probably erected as a residence for local noble families. It was not just an ordinary building, but a symbol of status and protection. Notice where this place is. The fort was strategically located right on the shore of the pond. This detail was not random. The water around the mansion served not only as a source of nutrients and a source of water for farming, but above all as a natural defence line. The pond was the first steps to protect residents and owners from unexpected attacks. So in the 14th century, there was not only peace and quiet, but constant movement, work and vigilance.

Now pay attention to what you see around you. Although the main buildings are long gone today, the very shape of the land and the layout of the space tells you the story of how the fort was built. If you look around, you can see traces of ancient geometry in the field and in the soil. For centuries, until the end of the 1920s, there remained visible remnants of the fortress, which formed an irregular quadrilateral. This shape is not random. It's proof of how people tried to use every piece of territory for their defence and comfort. Even if you don't see the stone walls anymore, try to draw these boundaries in your mind. Imagine the line that separated the safe space of the inner court from the dangers of surrounding nature and foreign forces. Feel the informal architecture that has been carved into the landscape itself.

But in order to understand the true meaning of this place, we need to look at the names that have written down in history. History has left us a clue in the Earth's records that gives us a clue as to who was the master of this place. In 1433, the name Janka from Landscape appears in the records. He was the owner of the pre-war estate. Imagine his position, his responsibility, and his life in this mansion. To be the master of such a place was to have power, but also to face the huge dangers that were in the Czech lands at that time. Janek z Krajnice was not just a name in an ancient document, it was a man for whom this fortress was home, a safe port and the center of his world.

But it was in 1433 that something happened that changed the fate of this place forever. This date is written in the history of the Poverty by blood and fire. It was a time of religious wars and great upheavals. The Hussite troops, which were passing through the countryside at the time, did not even conserve houses like this. The fortress was burned and destroyed. Imagine the moment the smoke from the burning mansion began to spread over the pond, when everything that had been built for decades began to turn to ashes. This tragic moment meant the end of the era, when the fortress was the vibrant, pulsating heart of the village. After the destruction of the Hussite, the fort was abandoned. The owners never returned to restore its glory, and the place gradually became subject to the power of time and nature.

What you see today is the result of a long process of decay. After the Hussites burned down, her buildings began to decompose slowly. Stone by stone, wood by wood was returned to the ground. This fortress gradually became just a shadow of its former existence. Although its structure gradually faded, its presence in the landscape remained relentless. Even though it no longer existed as a inhabited mansion, its outlines in the form of that irregular quadrilateral remained visible to anyone who stopped and wanted to look under their feet. It was like a silent reminder of an ancient power that tried to resist time, but eventually had to retreat.

Here is one of the greatest mysteries of this place. Who were the people who designed and built this fortress? Architects who, in the 14th century, were able to use the terrain and the water to defend themselves so intensely, remain unknown in history. We don't know their names, we don't know their faces. It remains only their work, which has been carved into the landscape and which has made us think about their abilities and intentions for hundreds of years. There's something fascinating about it that even though we lost the names of those who built, we can still feel the consequences of their work. This anonymity gives the place special mysticism. You stand before the work of unknown masters who created something so permanent that it survived the destruction of war and subsequent decay.

Today this fortress is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. This means that even if there is little visible, its value is immense for all of us. It's proof of our connection to the past. Although this monument does not appear to be a monumental chateau or a rich chateau, its strength lies in its truths. It's a story about the rise, the power of noble generations, the tragedy of wars, and the inevitable disintegration.

I hope this short journey has led you to wonder how fragile everything we consider permanent is. The Prefect is a reminder that even the strongest buildings can be subject to fate, but their souls and their footprints in the landscape can remain eternal. Please continue your tour of the village and observe the surrounding countryside. Every piece of this country can hide another story that just waits for someone to come and expose it. Thank you for your attention and I wish you a pleasant walk in history.

Tips for visitors

Best time to visit The Prefect Fortress is in the spring or autumn season when vegetation is best visible and the weather usually calm. These months offer ideal light for shooting historical ruins, especially in the morning or in the evening when light is softer and shadow effects add atmosphere.

We recommend checking the current traffic options in the search engine.

It is advisable to bring protective shoes when visiting, as the terrain around the fort can be unfilled and uneven. Fill your inventory with a camera for photography and in case of cold weather, don't forget to wear warm clothes because outdoor conditions can be unpredictable.

For families with children, the Prefect Fortress is an interesting place for an educational walk. Children can learn about the history and architecture of medieval fortifications, while they can enjoy playing in the open space around the pond. In addition, it is possible to visit the surrounding forests for short walks or picnics.

There are several interesting places around the fort that can be visited within one day. Distance 30 minutes from the Preface allows you to explore natural parks and forest trails where you can observe wildlife and various species of birds. These activities are an ideal supplement to the historical visit of the fortress.

Seasonal recommendations

In the spring, the ruins around the fort in the Preface awaken to life. Fresh green and flowering trees create a beautiful contrast with grey stones, while soft morning light gives the place softness. We recommend you take practical clothes suitable for variable weather and rain. The trip to the monument is calmer at this time, so you can enjoy the atmosphere without large groups of visitors.

Summer months bring intense sunlight and hot days to the fortress. Vegetation is in full bloom and the ruin is surrounded by dense vegetation. Due to higher temperatures and greater public interest, we recommend that you come early in the morning to avoid the biggest crowds and the greatest heat. Don't forget enough drinking water, headgear and light summer clothes.

Autumn nearby The prelim offers a unique melancholic atmosphere. The golden and brown shades of leaves surrounding the ruins create a nostalgic image that often intersects with the morning mist. It is advisable to wear waterproof shoes because moisture in the forest can cause slippery roads. An ideal visit is during clear afternoon hours, when the sun can still shine through the trees.

Winter visit offers a sense of absolute peace and isolation. Without leaves, the ruins are much better visible and the whole place acts raw and monumentally. Because of the cold and the wind, it is necessary to wear very warm and wind-resistant clothes. Due to the short days and the lower number of lights, plan a tour around noon to use maximum daylight.
