Vila Ludmila in Luhačovice is one of the most interesting Art Nouveau buildings in this spa town. It is a single-storey house from the beginning of the 20th century, built probably in 1910, which combines decorative Art Nouveau elements with early modernist efforts. Its most distinctive features are polygonal entrance vestibule with glazed walls, geometric reliefs in plaster and the inscription Ludmila above the window on the floor. The villa is an example of an urban residence that reflects the interest at the time in artistic craft and plastic decoration.

Luhačovice, located in the Zlín district, was in the first half of the 20th century an important spa centre where residential houses were built for richer guests. Vila Ludmila was created at a time when Art Nouveau and Modernist directions were promoted in Czech architecture, which emphasized decorative elements and artistic processing of details. The exact date of construction is not known, but it is assumed that it was on site at the beginning of the century. Historical sources about the original owner or purpose of the construction are not available, which gives the building some mystery.

The architecture of the villa is typical of Art Nouveau villa architecture with elements of modernism. It is a single-storey house on a square floor plan, the facade of which combines smooth and rough gravel plaster. The most remarkable element is the entrance vestibule, made up of polygonal wooden construction on a stone suspect with glazed walls. On the sides of the entrance there are three-piece windows with geometric reliefs in the plaster. On the floor there are French windows with balcony and iron railing, and the middle window is accompanied by the inscription Ludmila. The shield is trapezoidal, covered by a polygonal cabana with consoles, and is decorated with plastic linkages in the attics. The roof is valbic, set on a Fabion ledge, which was common in Art Nouveau architecture.

A modern extension was later added to the rear of the building, originally used as a garage, later converted into a florist and a gardener. This extension did not affect the original character of the villa, but extended its useful area. The villa has been protected historically since 1992, which confirms its architectural and historical value.

An interesting feature is the polygonal entrance vestibule, which represents an unusual solution for Art Nouveau architecture. The inscription of Ludmila above the upstairs window is one of the few preserved written traces of the original name of the villa. Plastic falls in the shield aetika give the facade mobility and artistic price. The villa is located in the heart of Luhačovice, near the historical core of the city, where there are other Art Nouveau and Modernist buildings such as a spa or a villa colony. The natural surroundings are characterised by warm-water vegetation and mineral springs typical of this area.

Today, Ludmila Villa is preserved in its original condition except for a modern extension. It is open to the public even if it is not regularly open to visitors. Nevertheless, the Luhačovice centre, where the spa architecture with villa houses from the beginning of the last century, is intertwined, is worthy of attention. Vila Ludmila is a rare example of Art Nouveau architecture, which shows how modernist tendencies were applied in Czech countries at the beginning of the 20th century. The visit offers the possibility to admire the detailed processing of the facade, geometric relief and artistic sculpture, typical of the villa architecture of the time. For lovers of history and architecture, this monument is an interesting sign of the wealth and diversity of Czech cultural heritage.

Welcome to Ludmila's villa in Luhačovice!

You are facing one of the most beautiful and distinctive Art Nouveau villas in the region. In front of you is a single-storey house with a square plan, which, with its charm and artistic detail, projects the spirit of the beginning of the last century. The facade is enriched with a combination of plaster, which alternates in fine tones, and this complements the significant entrance space. Let's look together at what this hidden villa and what stories it carries.

Vila Ludmila was probably built around 1910. It is one of those structures that reflect the artistic direction that developed at the time - a Art Nouveau style that gradually turned into early modernism. It was a time when architects were looking for new shapes that would link beauty to functionality. This villa is an example of how Art Nouveau decoration intersects with elements of modern thinking, especially in detail. Note how geometric shapes appear in relief decorations or in the construction of balconies with their decorative iron railing. Above the windows is the inscription Ludmila, which gives the construction a distinctive character.

Now pay attention to the entrance section. The polygonal entrance vestibule, which is glazed, is most interested. This space is an unusual solution for the villa architecture of the time and gives the whole special atmosphere. See how light penetrates glass surfaces and creates a game of shadows and light on the facade. This is typical of Art Nouveau architecture, which sought harmony between nature and artistic creation.

If you look at the overall appearance of the villa, you can realize how artistic decoration and practical solutions connect here. Vila Ludmila is not only a building, but also shows how architects tried to take a new, original approach. Although we do not know the names of architects or owners who lived here, we can imagine what it was like to live in such a house full of beauty and detail.

One of the most interesting things about this villa is its ability to combine two artistic styles - Art Nouveau and Modernist. At a time when Art Nouveau decoration began to change, this villa became an example of how these two directions intersect. Notice how geometric shapes and clean lines alternate with organic curves that are typical of Art Nouveau style. This gives the whole unique atmosphere and makes the villa a real work of art.

If you want to get to know this place in more detail, you can see the surroundings and see how this villa is inserted into the overall picture of Luhačovice. Vila Ludmila is not only a monument to architecture, but also a part of the history of this region. Whether you stay here for a while or stay here in more detail, I'm sure you'll take the feeling that you've encountered something special.
