Wrocław House is a significant Renaissance property located on Masaryk Square in Trebon. It was built by a noble family of Wroclaw on the basis of an older Gothic house and during its existence it has undergone many fires, property changes and building modifications including historical and pseudorenesance interventions. Today it serves commercial and social purposes and stores a number of valuable historical details.

This Renaissance building was built in the sixteenth century in the period when in the Czech countries during the reign of Jagellonc and the beginnings of the Habsburgs, Renaissance building creativity was boiling in cities and noble mansions. The original building was built on the foundations of the older Gothic house by the noble family of Wrocław. The seventeenth century then marked the war conflicts of the Thirty Years' War, fires and subsequent post-white mountain changes in property ratios that also affected the building development of the house.

The architectural development of the building left in the building a number of documented elements reflecting in today's form. According to the historical survey, the historical elements of the whole facade were preserved side and from the first floor above the facade, including the shield, forged elements and the layout and window type. The house also has Renaissance and younger vaults of the basement and ground floor, a historic staircase including railings and stone columns and flat ceilings with faceons on the floor. Other elements are probably classicist crows and chimney system, the rest of perhaps walled peeling or portal entrance on the ground floor right in the facade, a system of walled holes and niche in the wall to the neighboring house number 85, windows with bars in the facade of both skylights in the part of the soil to the house number 85 and stone lining at the entrance to the store in the facade. The building also contains a stone portal in the back of the ground floor annex with younger doors and forging, stone stage in front of the entrance to the shop, older coating layers and plaster under the existing facade, forged curtain of the postage shield and niche with polychrome statue of the Holy Trinity in the facade to Masaryk Square. Over the centuries, the house has undergone several reconstructions, with a historic reconstruction taking place in the late nineteenth century and a pseudorenesance shield at the beginning of the twentieth century. The later insensitive interventions on the ground floor of 1980 consisting of the removal of presented wooden interpreters and an insignificant solution of the shield facade were corrected during the overall reconstruction.

The list of owners reflects the agitated history of the house from noble houses to private persons and government. After Wroclaw acquired the property Jan Ruthard Mirotický z Malešova, after which his wife Ludmila inherited it and sold it to Matthias Pirrler. In 1656 he bought the house Tobiáš Prattenberger for 1350 kicks and in 1672 he sold it to Třeboň township and fellow councilman Jan Kazil. He fixed the house, and in 1710 he advanced Melichar to Cibušek for 1,000 gold Rhine. The widow Teresa Cibušková sold the house in 1740 to her son-in-law Philip Thurner for 2000 golden Rhine and the widow Ludmila Thurner gave it to her second husband Josef Schatz. In 1773 he took the house Karel Solberger for 1400 gold Rhine and in 1808 she transferred the widow Antonia Solberger house to her son František Solperger. In the land book, Antonín Břeský z Birkenfelsu is listed in 1866. In 1901, the husband and wife Jan a Matylda Tesařovi bought the house, with half the building switched to John the Elder in 1930. In 1948, Marie Broukal, Božena Dušková and Dr Jan Tesák acquired a third of the ownership shares. In 1960 the property of the house passed through the forced donation agreement to the Czechoslovak State. In 1991, the restitution house was acquired by the descendants of former owners who sold it to existing owners in 1999.

Key events include damage to the house after a major fire In 1618 or in the siege of the city by the army of General Baltasar Marrads and Vich in 1622, followed by the first reconstruction in 1623. The Great Fire of Třeboň in 1781 requested further repairs and at that time probably a new crov was created with new ceilings above the first floor. At the end of the twentieth century, restitution took place and in 2001 the whole building was completely renovated after a historical survey and consultation with the Czech Budejovice Memorial Institute in order to protect and highlight all architectural valuable elements.

Today there are ground-floor vaults, basement and basement rooms under the name Wroclaw House for social purposes and good hospitality. In 1960 the property was transferred to the state and in 1980 an inappropriate adaptation of the ground floor was made, which was only repaired during reconstruction in 2001, when the restaurant Vratislav was opened on the ground floor. In summer there is also a front garden at Masaryk Square.

This house represents a valuable example of historical building development in Třeboň Square, where Gothic foundations, Renaissance core and later modifications are mixed. Visiting this place offers the opportunity to know the authentic historical environment associated with current social use.

Architectural development

The house was built in the 16th century on Gothic foundations as a Renaissance building. Over the centuries, fires have been damaged several times, leading to new roofs, ceilings, and facade modifications. At the end of the nineteenth century, a historic reconstruction took place and at the beginning of the twentieth century it acquired a shield of pseudorenesance form. The later insensitive interventions on the ground floor were removed during the general reconstruction in 2001.

Historical events

The fire of Trebon in 1618 or the siege of the city troops in 1622 led to damage to the house and its first reconstruction in 1623. The Great Fire in 1781 required further repairs and the formation of a new roof. In 1960 the property of the house passed through the forced donation agreement to the Czechoslovak State. In 2001 the entire building was reconstructed after a historical survey.

Welcome to the heart of historic Trebon. You are standing on Masaryk Square and your eyes are now clinging to one of the most important objects in this city, the Wrocław House. Before you take another walk, stop for a moment and feel the atmosphere of this place. Look at his facade, his face, which has changed over the centuries, but still retains his dignity. This house is not just a cluster of walls and roofs; It is a living chronicle that carries traces of many generations, many owners and many events that have shaped today's city. Feel the beauty that comes from his Renaissance character, and try to imagine what lives have been lived here.

To understand what you're seeing right now, we need to go back deep into the past. This house has not only one layer of its history, but it is like an onion that has many hidden secrets. Its foundations are not just a simple stone, but they go back to the Gothic era. That means that under the Renaissance shapes you are now observing, there is an even older, far more ancient history. The Wrocław house was built on these earlier foundations by the noble family of Wrocław, from which he also exerts his name. This family left a trail and gave this place its first significant character. The first clear record that the house had to be repaired and changed is from the year six hundred twenty-three, when the first documented reconstruction occurred after the previous damage. Since then, the house has never changed, but it has evolved with the city.

Now pay attention to what you see right in front of you. Although the house acts as a single whole, its architecture is the result of a long process. The main style you perceive is Renaissance, but if you look more closely at the details, you realize that time didn't save him. The house has undergone many construction modifications. Over the years, interventions have been carried out to try to make the building look older than it was, or to mimic the Renaissance style in later times. These different layers create a fascinating whole. Notice how different times intersect in its structure. Even after a great fire in the year one thousand seven hundred and eighty-one, which then struck the whole of Trebon and caused great destruction, this house was able to rise again. It was at that time that a new tree was created, the main wooden structure that holds the whole roof and gives the house its solid shape. This ability to recover is one of the most important elements that make the house so special.

But every such house is, above all, a home for people. And the Wroclaw house has had many different owners over the centuries, each of whom has brought their own chapter into its history. We can name here a number of personalities who lived here or who owned the house. Imagine the year one thousand six hundred fifty-six when the house was bought by Tobiáš Prattenberger for an incredible sum of a thousand three hundred and fifty hundred and fifty kicks. This clearly shows how high this place was in the seventeenth century. Then there were different people like Jan Ruthard Mirotický z Malešova, Jan Kazil or Melichar Cibušek. There are names such as Filip Thurner, Josef Schatz, or the Solberger family, namely Karel and František Solberger. The house was also owned by Antonín Břesky of Birkenfels and later by Jan and Matylda Tesarov. Each of these names represents the person who lived here, decided, or simply sought a safe haven. This line of names is like the procession of people who intersect in time and leave traces in these walls.

So what's the most interesting thing about this place? Maybe it's the constant transformation and survival. The Wroclaw house has been attacked many times by fire. The fires in the history of cities are always a destructive force that can turn everything to dust, but this house has always risen again and changed its face. It's fascinating how the Gothic past, the Renaissance face, and later efforts to imitate old styles mingle in one building. You never know exactly where one era ends and another begins. This inconsistency, this mix of different styles and periods, is precisely what gives this place its unique character and mystery. It's like reading a book where each side is written in different letters, but the story remains one and the same.

Today you are looking at this house in its modern form, which is the result of a great recovery. After a long period when property relationships changed and the house went through various states, it was repaired after the old changes and in the year two thousand one it was completely renovated. This modern work allowed the house to serve people again in all its glory. There is now a restaurant in its ground floor areas, which is a beautiful way to revive the house and allow visitors to relax in its shadow.

We now invite you to continue to discover the beauty of Trebon. Walk further through the square, perceive the atmosphere of this city and look around you. Every building you meet has its own story, similar to the one you just heard. I wish you a nice walk and many other interesting experiences while exploring the history of this place. Goodbye.

Tips for visitors

The best time to visit the Wrocław House is in the spring or autumn period when the town of Treboň is in full blooming beauty and temperatures are pleasant. Renaissance architecture is especially marked against the background of green surroundings these days.

Parking is possible to find near Masaryk Square where the Wroclaw House is located. For those arriving by public transport, the location is well accessible by bus and tram connections. We recommend checking the current route information in the online search engine.

When visiting, wear a suitable suit because the interiors of old buildings can be cold. Don't forget to wear sunglasses and umbrella in case of unpredictable weather.

For the photograph it is best to wait for the period when the sun is low above the horizon. This provides an ideal light to capture the details of the architecture and atmosphere of the city. The best views can be found on Masaryk Square, where the house is well visible.

In the vicinity of the Wrocław House there is the historical core of the town of Trebon, which offers other attractions such as castle and ponds. For families with children it is appropriate to visit the Třeboňská ponds, where they can look at the bird world or try to ride the boat.

Themed route

1. Masaryk Square in Trebon, Square. It's the perfect place to start walking and observing the surroundings. 2. historical core of the city, urban area. This area will guide you through the old streets and show the true face of the city. 3. Wroclaw house, a monument. The main objective of your journey, which is an important part of local architecture.

Seasonal recommendations

Spring: In spring, the mood at the Wroclaw House is fresh and full of new powers. The sunlight is fine and does not shine, which is suitable for observing small features of historical building. Nature begins to grow green again, creating a pleasant contrast to the colors of the house. I recommend you take several layers of clothing because the morning cold can take turns with heat. There are fewer visitors in this period than in summer, so you can enjoy a quieter tour.

Summer: Summer months bring bright, bright light to the city and long days of life. The mood is lively and cheerful, but due to high temperatures, it can be hot in the vicinity. It's best to come right after opening so you can avoid the biggest crowds and take advantage of the freshness of the morning. Dress lightly and do not forget drinking mode and sun protection.

Autumn: Autumn visit offers magical moments thanks to golden shades of leaves and morning fog that supply the surroundings with mystery. The light is low and soft in this period, which greatly highlights the construction. It's good to have a warmer jacket and a stronger shoe on hand, because the roads can be wet. Autumn is a great time for those who seek peace and want to escape the summer rush.

Winter: In winter, the historic place is very quiet and dignified, especially when it is covered by snow or frost. Days are short and evenings are quiet, which creates a cozy but cold mood. The need is very warm clothes, including hats and gloves, because frost can be felt inside older buildings. Before travelling, check opening times which may be shorter in this period than in other times of the year.
