The castle park is situated in the south Bohemian Třeboň area between the historical castle and Budejovice suburb, just behind the long walls of the city. Its creation is linked to the person Peter Vok from Rožmberk, who in the late 16th century built a garden with a whimsical interest in exotic plants and trees. The original terrain represented a wetland that had to be first transported through the soil in order to plant plants and trees. In addition to the ornamental function, the garden had a practical character - vegetables were grown here. Petr Vok had the road leading through the Shallow City Gate translated and in the acquired area he built a expensive wooden painted gazebo, called lusthaus, designed for garden festivals and selected events.

The following centuries brought alternating fates. The swans were kept in the park when the Švamberk family was housed in the castle. The 30-year war in 1623 brought ruin - the garden was destroyed, the gazebo's contents disappeared and the gazebo itself became a stock of fishing nets. He burned down later. Restoration was initiated by the Schwarzenberg family in the seventeenth century, fruit orchard became part of the complex, although the southern part remained problematic for the long term due to flooding.

The fundamental transformation came in 1804 with massive planting of a new collection of trees and trees. In the period when the castle was owned by Prince Jan Adolf II. ze Schwarzenbergu and his relative Paulina was involved in the adjustment of the park, exotic plants, flower parters and a pool with watermark were gradually added. In 1925, President Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk visited the park. Altan used the cultural environment during the first republic - Dushak's band played there on the occasion of economic exhibitions.

After 1945, the park opened up to the public. During the twentieth century he underwent several renovations - in the 1950s and 1970s and in the late 1980s and 1990s. The extensive floods in 2002 damaged a number of historic trees. The last substantial renewal was carried out by the park between 2019 and 2020, when the mobiliary was renovated.

Today the castle park is a popular place of rest for local citizens, tourists and spa guests. He is a major part of the representation of the castle and the town of Třeboň. The eastern part of the castle is equipped with fountains and rest rooms. The park is a particularly popular place for wedding ceremonies where the gazebo and Schwarzenberg Hall are used. The area is fenced and accessible from the cesевer.

Welcome to the castle park Trebon, one of the most important landscaping works of our region. You stand before a spreading space full of history and beauty where every step reveals a new chapter of the past. Under your feet is green grass that leads to an ancient castle and surrounds it like a living shield. If you look around, you'll see a wonderful game of trees that make up a harmonious symphony of colors and shapes. It's a place where nature and art dance together in an endless waltz.

Let's dive into the history of this local heritage. The castle park in Trebon has its roots in the late sixteenth century, when Petr Vok z Rožmberka began its creation. It was a period of changes and new ideas that reflected the creation of this ornamental garden. Petr Vok was supposed to create an ambition to meet exotic plants and trees with careful architecture. His efforts culminated in the translation of the road leading to the city gate and the position of the expensive gazebo, which was very modern at the time.

Now pay attention to architectural details. Under your feet is an elegant route that sneaks between ancient trees and green areas. Notice the current here, whose origin dates back to a time when this space was completely different. Its flow resembles the transformation of a park from a symmetric garden to an English landscape park in the nineteenth century. This transformation, initiated by Jan Adolf II. ze Schwarzenbergu and his wife Paulina ze Schwarzenbergu, brought more nature and freedom into space.

Key personalities such as Petr Vok z Rožmberka or Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, who visited this park in 1925, contributed to its heritage. Their presence and efforts helped to consolidate the Třebon Castle Park as a monument not only to regional but also to national importance.

The interesting thing about this place is its ability to overcome time and nature. In 2002 there were floods which damaged historical trees and infrastructure. Yet the park continues to live as it was built again with its original beauty and spirit.

Look up at the heavens full of stars, which with their radiance remind you that even after centuries, a place like this can preserve its magic. This park is living proof of how history and nature together can create something incredible.

I urge you to explore every mystery in this place. Walk through his travels, noble trees and talk to the history that lives here. And when you decide to leave, bring in in your heart that memory of the beauty and dignity of Trebon Castle Park. Thank you for your visit and don't forget to come back to experience the next chapter of his story.

Seasonal recommendations

In spring the park comes alive thanks to the first green color and blooming flowers. The atmosphere is fresh and light is very bright thanks to less dense tree crowns. For visiting it is best to choose the morning hours when the air is the cleanest. We recommend layered clothing because morning temperatures can still be low.

The summer season offers rich vegetation and dense shaded roads that provide shelter from heat. At this time, the park is the most lively and color-intensive. Due to the increased number of visitors it is worth arriving right after opening to enjoy peace. Dress lightly and don't forget enough fluids.

Autumn moons bring golden and brown shades and a quiet, slightly melancholy atmosphere to the landscape. It often creates a fog that gives the place a mystery. It is ideal to come in the afternoon when the sun lights up colored leaves at an angle. Quality waterproof shoes are necessary because of the wet surface.

In winter the park is very quiet, with strong silhouettes of bare trees. If snow falls, the scene is absolutely magical. Due to the shorter daylight, plan to visit around noon. It is necessary to have very warm clothes and solid shoes for safe movement around the eventually frozen ground.
