Building Jan Malát's basic art school in Nový Bydžov is originally a classicist school building from 1818 to 1819 from builder J. Martínek, which is characterized by a younger Art Nouveau street facade from 1897 and is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. This monument based in the street Na valech in the district of Hradec Králové combines the original classical disposition with younger composite elements.

The building was created at the turn of the second decade of the nineteenth century as a school building. At the time of its creation, in the late 1950s, the Czech countries were in the period of national revival under the rule of Austrian emperor Franz I, while Europe recovered from the wars of Naples and set the rules of the Vienna Congress.

The construction was built between 1818 and 1819 by builder J. Martínek as a classicist school building. An important part of the building is Art Nouveau street façade from 1897, which added a new face to the building and combines the original classical layout with younger composite elements.

The National Monument Institute records this building in the catalogue of monuments under register number ÚSKP 49772 / 6-6073 as a protected cultural monument of the Czech Republic.

The chronology of the building covers the year 1818, when construction started by the builder J. Martínek, the year 1819 as the date of completion of the originally classicist school building and the year 1897 when the Art Nouveau street facade was created.

Today this object serves as Základní umělecká škola Jana Maláta and is located in the street Na valy in New Bydžov. Visiting this monument offers a view of the successful connection of the classical foundation and Art Nouveau facades from 1897, and it is therefore worth visiting this place in the Hradec Králové district.

Welcome to New Bydžov, where you are now in front of the unique monument of our cultural heritage - Jan Malát's basic art school. This building can tell you interesting chapters of history that go back to the beginning of the 19th century.

Let's take a look at what's in front of you first. The building in Na valech Street carries in its facade a combination of classical and Art Nouveau style, which can be seen here from the first sight. More precise details, however, are revealed over time.

Let's start with her creation. In 1818 the construction of this classical school building started, which was completed the following year under the guidance of architect Jan Martínek. It was a time when cities and municipalities tried to provide better educational facilities for their inhabitants.

Now let's talk about architecture. When you look at it, you'll see the classicist elements here that are characterized by symmetry and elegance. But we do not forget the Art Nouveau street facade from 1897, which added a new life to the original design. This combination of styles allows you to feel the historic transformation this building has undergone.

Although specific personalities associated with this monument are not known, its architectural process is an important testimony about the period of educational policy and cultural development of the area. The building became a place of learning and culture that deserved to be protected.

The interesting thing is, of course, that this building is today protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. Its register number SZP 49772 / 6-6073 provides protection for future generations.

I recommend you take a few minutes to examine and perceive the atmosphere of this place. Every detail can tell a story that intersects with the history of the entire region.

And now that you've looked at this memory, I can invite you to explore New Byjo again. There are many other interesting places and stories waiting to be discovered. I hope you enjoyed this guide and that you will want to visit this place again or other historical monuments of our beautiful region. God!
