zámek Nové Syrovice Chateau
Chateau Nové Syrovice is a classicist two-wing object in the village Nové Syrovice on Třebíčsk in Vysočina Region. This cultural monument, protected since 1968, was created by a gradual reconstruction of the original Renaissance fortress. Currently the building serves as Home Nové Syrovice.
The history of the building dates back to the period after 1529, when Mikuláš z Víckova built the fortress. In the first quarter of the 17th century, Jan Čejka from Olbramovice, the mansion was transformed into a Renaissance chateau. Further development in the 18th century brought Baroque modifications and in the years 1820 to 1830 the construction gained its present classical form. In the middle of the 19th century an English park was established in the area.
The chateau is presented as a three-storey two-wing building. While the exterior bears the signs of classicism, the interiors are performed in an empirical style. During the 20th and 21st centuries, the object underwent a number of modifications related to its variable use. Between 2018 and 2020, a complex reconstruction of the building and its equipment amounted to CZK 80 million. During it, the roof, roofs, windows and doors were repaired. In 2024 the economic wing was repaired and for 2027 a new wing with 25 beds is planned.
The list of owners reflects the varied history of the object. After Nicholas from Víckov, Václav mladší z Lichtenburka won it in 1547, followed by Volf Štrejn from Švarcenava and Jan Čejka z Olbramovic. After the battle on the White Mountain, the chateau fell to the imperial physician Adam Gabelhouer. In 1636 it was bought by Schaumburks, in 1662 Odeshovský z Odesov and in 1786 Count Jan Jindřich Nimptsch. Since 1916, Count Josef Volfgang was owned by Maria Stubenberg, who had to leave him after 1945. Since 2004, he has owned the castle Kraj Vysočina.
After 1945 the chateau served as a barracks, and later there was a home for pensioners. Since 1996, there has been a Social Welfare Institute, which since 1997 also specializes in the treatment of chronic alcoholics. From January 2020, the institution shall be called Home Nové Syrovice.
The chateau is located near the Syrovic pond and in its vicinity passes the route of the Grasel trail. The building represents an important example of the historical continuity of building development from the Renaissance fortress to the Classicist residence. The New Syrovic visit offers an opportunity to become acquainted with this monument, which, despite its modern use, keeps a legacy of centuries past.

The castle in Nové Syrovice stands not far from Syrovický Pond. The Grasel Trail runs around it. Since 1968 it has been protected as a cultural monument.
Its origins date back to after 1529, when Mikuláš z Víckova had a fortified house built there. In 1547 he sold it to Václav the Younger of Lichtenburg. In 1575 Volf Štrejn ze Švarcenavy bought it from Apolonie Bítovská z Lichtenburka, and in 1607 Jan Čejka z Olbramovic acquired it from him. It was under Jan Čejka that the fortified house was transformed into a Renaissance castle in the first quarter of the seventeenth century.
After the Battle of White Mountain, the castle was seized and given to the imperial physician Adam Gabelhouer. In 1636 the Schaumburgs purchased it, and in 1662 the Ostašovskis of Ostašov acquired it. Under their ownership, it underwent Baroque modifications in the eighteenth century. In 1786 it was acquired by Count Jan Jindřich Nimptsch. During the Nimptsch period, between 1820 and 1830, the castle received its present Classicist appearance, though the interiors were furnished in the Empire style. In the mid-nineteenth century, an English park was created in its surroundings.
From 1916 the castle belonged to Count Josef Wolfgang Maria Stubenberg. After 1945 he had to abandon it, and the building was converted into barracks. In the sixties it became a retirement home. In 1996 a social care facility was established there, which from 1997 also included a department for treating chronic alcoholics. Since 2004 the facility has been a contributory organization of the Vysočina Region.
Extensive repairs followed. In 2018 the windows and roof were replaced. From 2018 to 2020 a comprehensive reconstruction of the building and equipment took place at a cost of 80 million crowns, during which the roof frames, roof, windows and doors were among the features renewed. During the repairs, the facility's operations moved to temporary premises in Želetava. From January 2020 the castle has served people again for treating alcohol dependence, and the facility has taken the new name Home Nové Syrovice.
In 2024 the former utility wing was renovated. For 2027 an extension of a new wing with 25 beds is planned.
