Dolany Fortress

Dolany Castle is located in the village of Dolany within Plzeňský kraj. It stands as a historical monument showcasing architectural evolution from Gothic to Baroque styles over several centuries. Established likely in the late 14th century, it served its purpose until the 18th century. Today, it remains significant as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic, with only the palace structure still standing.

By 1546, Zikmund Měsíček z Výškova took ownership, followed by Bořivoj Měsíček z Výškova in 1612. The castle's involvement in the Bohemian Revolt of 1618-1620 under Bořivoj's leadership led to potential confiscation risks. Ownership later transitioned to Rudolf Čejka z Olbramovic by 1631, and subsequently to the Klatov Jesuits in the early 18th century, who used it as a summer residence. By 1805, the Černín family had acquired the castle.

Key events include its participation in the Bohemian Revolt of 1618-1620, part of the larger context of religious and political upheaval during the Thirty Years' War.
