Fara in Hodushín, located south of St. Wenceslas's Church in the village Opařany, is a Baroque building from the 18th century, which was subjected to major modifications in 1797. Since 1963, it has been protected as a cultural monument. This parish is characterised by its architectural value and history, which makes it an attractive destination for visitors interested in history and culture.

The formation of the rectory is connected to the 18th century, the Baroque period, which in Central Europe brought many architectural works characterized by rich decorative elements and a complex geometric structure. In the Czech Republic, Baroque architecture was developed at this time, reflecting cultural and religious changes. The Fara in Hodushín is an example of this style with its rectangular floor plan and a valb roof decorated with stucco champagne.

Architecturally, the rectory boasts arched interior on the ground floor, while the floor has flat ceilings. The Baroque elements are visible not only in the structure but also in the detail of stucco ornaments. The parish area consists not only of the building itself, but also of a fenced wall with a gate and adjacent courtyard, where stables and a barn were located, which are not protected as a cultural monument.

The history of the rectory recorded key events, in particular its addition to the list of cultural monuments in 1963. In 2014 the situation began to change with the arrival of new owners who started the reconstruction of the rectory. This reconstruction was necessary due to the very bad to emergency condition of the building, which manifested itself with a seriously damaged cover, filler-free windows and degraded plaster. The first phase of the reconstruction included restoration of critical parts of the building, including repair of hambalk roofs, roof cover replacement and installation of new arches on chimneys. In addition, wooden windows were installed in the style of original design.

The reconstruction continued in the interior where the infrastructure of the house was replaced - water, heating, electricity and waste. In the absence of a public network, an underground sewage treatment plant with a grey water tank and an underground rainwater tank were installed. On the ground floor, crest vaults were placed in the original form, while stucco elements of ceilings were repaired in the upper floors and degraded plaster was replaced. In 2024 the reconstruction of the facade started, which continued in the following year also on decorative stucco shamrans.

Today the rectory in Hodushín is not only a monument with a rich historical background, but also an example of successful reconstruction and protection of cultural heritage. Its current state is the result of careful repairs and renewal which enable visitors to appreciate its historical value and architectural appearance. Fara is worth visiting not only for those who are interested in the history of the Czech Baroque, but also for anyone who appreciates the efforts to preserve the cultural heritage.

Fara in Hodusín represents an important contribution to the history and culture of the region. Its reconstruction shows how historical heritage can be preserved for future generations. Visiting this rectory offers a unique view of the past and recalls the importance of protecting cultural monuments as part of a national identity.

Welcome to this historic monument, the rectory of Hodusin, located in the picturesque surroundings of Opařán. You stand in front of a baroque shape that boasts rich history and architectural beauty of the 18th century. The view of this building can give you a sense of return to the past, when the rectory was an integral part of both spiritual and community life.

Fara in Hodushín is characterized as an architectural success of the Baroque era. Its existence can be dated to the 18th century, when it was built for the needs of the clergy and residents of the local community. In 1797, the parish building underwent major modifications which transformed it into the current form as we know it today. Since 1963, the rectory has been protected as a cultural monument, indicating its importance and historical and aesthetic value.

Look at the exterior of the building. Its facade is decorated with stucco shamrans, which add elegance and expressiveness to the construction. These elements are a characteristic feature of Baroque architecture, where emphasis is placed on the richness of detail and shape dynamics. The interior of the rectory also offers a lot of exploration: on the ground floor you will find arched floors that provide a space of engaging air to the spiritual shelter. On the floors you will find flat ceilings, which is another element of architecture of the time.

Although particular architects and historical figures associated with this parish remain unknown, their work still calls us. You can see how baroque stucco ornaments harmonically intersect with the overall structure of the building and give it a unique character.

The interesting thing is that after 1963, when the rectory was added to the list of cultural monuments, new owners decided to reconstruct the parish building in 2014. This process not only preserved the historical nature of the construction, but also ensures its care and sustainability for future generations.

Now that you've noticed these details, we're going to invite you to dive into the atmosphere of this place. Take a look at the surrounding fence with the gate and adjacent courtyard, stables and barn, which together form the total area of this monument.

We hope that this guide inspired you to further explore not only the rectory of Hodushín, but also the surrounding region of Ospořán. Thank you for your visit and we wish you a pleasant stay in weddings of Czech history and culture.
