The church stands at an altitude of approximately 590 metres in Bohumilice, where it forms the core of an extensive protected area. This includes the bell tower from 1862, the morgue, the romantically historically historically historizing family tomb of the House of Pigeons, the forged cross from 1767 and the cemetery lined with a wall with three entrances. The surrounding area of the church is characterized by an extraordinary set of stone gravestones and figurative tombstones dating from the 16th to 19th century, which shows the cultural historical development of the local parish village.

The original Gothic or Romanesque church was supposed to be built between 1240 and 1250, although the first written mention dates back to 1379. That's when the church took over the royal court; However, the documents from 1352 show that the Vimperk settlement was assigned to Bohumilice. The Patrocinium of the Church has evolved from the original initiation to St. Martin's, to the period when it was dedicated to St. Martin and the Holy Trinity, to the final form of the consecrated Trinity, and later also to St. Barbara's - the consecration of the Trinity gradually prevailed. The first patrons were páni z Janovic a Vimperka, in later times the masters of Skalice, Rožmberk, z Hradce and the House of Pigeons took turns.

The first major reconstruction took place around 1435, the church ship was expanded around 1600. After the experience of the Thirty Years' War and the fire in 1657, the state of construction became critical. In 1663, a major reconstruction was carried out under the threat of collapse - surprisingly more Renaissance than Baroque. A spacious presbytery was created, the ceiling of the ship increased, windows increased and the church gained two towers. With this security, he became the head of local religious life: in 1665, Pope Alexander VII. granted him the right to grant full indulgence in the worship of the Holy Trinity, which lured the procession from surrounding communities.

February 1815 brought disaster. Big fire, supported by strong wind, seized by Bohumilice - only part of the northern wall with an old portal from the second half of the 13th century remained from the church. Both towers burned down, the bells melted with heat. Restoration in 1817-1818 brought three new bells and partly new construction. In 1861- 1862 another reconstruction in pseudo-Romanesque style followed with steps to the circle, a new turret with a needle roof and a distinctive adjustment of the western facade. The facade obtained horizontal shackling, two small turrets in the corners, a circular window above the entrance and an arc mound around the shield. The new New Romanesque bell tower was built separately with three bells.

In the next decades, the care of the church continued: in 1877 he bought a chandelier from Harrachov glassworks for 175 gold. In 1966, parishioners laid a new tile and bench under the direction of P. Jan Krejsa. At the beginning of the 21st century, in the presence of P. Jan Janoušek, the whole church underwent extensive reconstruction - the original roof was attacked by a homemade woodwork and was replaced by a new one in 2006.

Today, the Church of the Holy Trinity in Bohumilice represents a significant historical document in the first stone - not only a separate building, but especially as part of a complex with a rich religious tradition and a local memory inscribed in tombstones. The visitor will find here a layered history of a parish village stretching over more than six centuries.
