kostel svaté Maří Magdalény (Lančov) Church

The church of St. Mary Magdalene is located in the central part of the village Lančov in the district of Znojmo and is the parish temple of the parish. It is a single-boat oriented building that has been modified over the centuries by numerous modifications and reconstructions, so it is today an interesting layer of architectural layers from the Middle Ages to the 20th century.

The temple was created in late Romanesque style during the first half of the 13th century. At that time it took the form of a rectangular boat with an apsid and a tower, which ended with a wooden bell floor. For a long time, however, the church did not remain in good condition - the 1657 record describes it as "completely broken." It was only in 1695 when a major repair took place, but the exact extent of which is now indeterminate.

Key changes brought about by the 18th century. In 1750, the original wooden bell floor of the tower was replaced by a walled one, thus adapting the temple to the baroque taste. A year later, the internal layout was modified - the tower was covered and new windows were built. The old open logger in the south side of the church was sealed and created a new main entrance to the undertower. During the 19th century, further adjustments were added. Sometime in the first half of the middle, a hall was added to the west side of the tower. In 1855 there was a new sacristy, and in 1872 a chapel of God's grave with a triangular conclusion and a musical ring. The last major construction change was recorded in 1930, when a staircase was added to the tower.

Today the temple is an interesting well of architectural styles. The tower bears visible traces of a long past - its older part has a medieval character, which is separated by a cordon ledge from a later baroque bell floor, ended with a brick needle. The facade of the tower is broken down by the Lizenas and the holes were changed according to the time - on the first floor there are oval windows, the bell tower has windows with semi-circular arches. The main entrance is today in the west facade of the tower, covered in the hall, while the original entrance remains walled up.

The interior boasts interesting elements. The priestess is surrounded by a condom while the ship has a flat ceiling and in its western part is a neo-gothic wooden circle. The main altar is decorated with a picture of Mary Magdalena from 1763, later restored in 1952, and its retabular covers the walls of the apside. The windows are filled with vitrajs from 1935. There is a medieval bell in the tower with the relief of St. Peter, which was in 1717 in Znojmo.

The church is today protected as a cultural monument and represents a valuable document on architectural development across centuries - from late romance to medieval repairs to rich baroque modifications.
