At an elevated location in Mochov, in the district of Praha-východ, there is a temple that tells nine hundred years of Czech history. The church of St. Bartholomew, the filial church of the Celakovice parish, is the oldest preserved monument in the village and protected as an important piece of cultural heritage.

The story of the church begins on the hill, where once stood a small fort with a chapel dedicated to St. Margaret. In the 14th century, Pešek Nymburský, a respected patron of the church, had it transformed into the Gothic church of St. Bartholomew. The building of the priesthood required the demolishing of the south wall of the original fortress; The rest served as a sacristy. Although the church was created by rebuilding an older building, it had the status of a parish temple from the beginning. During the 15th century, the Mochov community accepted a tradivistic religion and until the first half of the 17th century, the priests were "under both methods." After the Battle of White Mountain in 1620, the vicar was expelled and the construction without leadership was lost over time. However, the church did not completely disappear by virtue of the initiative of local believers. There were serious static problems in the early 20th century. In 1917, the construction was reinforced with steel anchors that pulled the masonry back. The following year the church was generally suspected, plastered and cracks repaired. Since then, the outer walls have no longer had plaster applied except the bell tower.

The architecture of the church is moderate and purely gothic. The building is turned off on the hill about 200 meters above sea level, which is conical in shape and represents a significant landscape dominant. Two stairways lead to the hill from the southeast - one with a stone railing to the rear west entrance of the cemetery and the other with a simpler staircase across the hill to the south cemetery gate from 1777. The church itself consists of a one-ship rectangular building with a flat ceiling, whose presbytery polygonally closes the inner space. The ceiling above the presbytery is divided into two fields with a ribbed vault; individual ribs 20 to 25 cm wide have a triangular cross-section and are guided on simple brackets. The windows are small and without decoration solution as well as the portal. The bell tower, located south of the ship and connected to the church only through the passage, is the only part of the building with plaster and serves as a church tower. The Patriarchal Cross is on top of it. In the north wall of the presbytery there is a small niche serving as a sanctuary.

The cemetery surrounding the church is no longer used - its capacity failed already in the 19th century. The remains of the wooden bell tower on the south side and the buried skeleton from 1935 resemble extinct buildings. Today, both Roman Catholic and Orthodox worship takes place in the church, thus once again fulfilling its historical role.
