The Church of St. Havel serves as a parish temple of the Roman Catholic parish Poříčí nad Sázavou and belongs to the cultural monuments of the Czech Republic. It was built at some point at the end of the 12th century or at the beginning of the 13th century, but the exact circumstances of its creation remain unknown because it was not preserved by written sources. This Romanesque era preserved the basic building elements - a rectangular boat with a semi-circular eastern apidas, a crypt under the priesthood and two towers, from which the north tower was partially reduced over time.

The church was born in the 17th century when it burned down in 1620. After this disaster, it was redesigned and re-etched with quarry engraving into mortar, while the southern tower gained a characteristic onion pit. In 1677 came the first Baroque style. But the groundbreaking changes came from 1745 to 1750, when the church with the support of Count František Václav of Vrtba and his wife Marie Anna of Klenová had a major renewal. The original southern entrance was walled and replaced by a new one in the west, while two rectangular attachments were attached. The medieval bleachers gave way to the Baroque circle and a new staircase was created leading to an elevated priesthood.

The interior of the church today is a unified baroque-gothic carving decoration from the time of these modifications - the work of lime wood processed by the sculptor Lazarus Widemнnn. The main altar in the apsid is decorated by the painting of St. Havel by Pilsen painter František Lux from 1750. The church also has other altars - Prague Jesulina on the north side of the choir, Saint Anne on the south side, dedicated to persons such as Saint Libor, St. John Nepomuk, St. Francis of Assisi, and St. Kajetan. Also remarkable is the pulpit with three plastic reliefs with biblical motifs, under which stands a Chinese baptist from 1629 with Czech inscription. Part of the equipment is an oratory decorated with the figures of angels and heads with three faces of emotifying the course of life. VarhanProcessing dates back to 1868, while two bells from 1673 bearing the names Havel and Václav with Latin inscriptions hang in the tower.

In the 19th century, the tower received further modifications - the wooden superstructure was replaced by a stone building in Alpine style. An important restaurant took place in modern history: the original Romanesque portal of the church was discovered on the southern outer wall in 1948, which was subsequently restored in 1971. It is these remnants of medieval architecture that place it among the rare examples of Romanesque construction in the Czech Republic and make it a remarkable historical witness for over 800 years. / p >

The Church of Saint Havel in Poříčí nad Sázavou belongs among rare Czech Romanesque buildings. It is the parish church of the local Roman Catholic parish and is protected as a cultural monument. When and under what circumstances it was created, we do not know, because written sources are missing. It is believed that it was built at the end of the twelfth or at the beginning of the thirteenth century.

The main body of the church dates from that time. It consists of a rectangular nave, a semicircular eastern apse, a crypt beneath the chancel, and two towers. The northern tower has survived only to the height of the nave.

In sixteen twenty, the church burned down. After its repair, it received new plaster with drawn ashlar and the southern tower acquired an onion dome. In sixteen seventy-seven, it was made baroque, but a fundamental reconstruction came only in the years seventeen forty-five to seventeen fifty. It was carried out under the patronage of Francis Václav, Count of Vrtby, and his wife Mary Anna, Countess of Klenová. The original southern entrance was bricked up and replaced by today's western one. The Romanesque gallery was replaced by a baroque gallery. A new entrance to the crypt was broken through and a staircase to the elevated chancel was created around it. In the nineteenth century, the wooden superstructure of the southern tower was replaced by today's stone superstructure in the style of Alpine churches. In nineteen forty-eight, an original Romanesque portal was revealed on the southern wall, which was restored in nineteen seventy-one.

The interior has uniform Baroque Gothic furnishings made of linden wood. The sculptor Lazar Widemann carved the altars, the pulpit, and the oratory. The main altar in the eastern apse is decorated with a painting of Saint Havel from seventeen fifty by the Plzeň painter Francis Luxe. On either side of the altar stand two sculptural groups. A penitent kneels at Saint Liborius, in whom Widemann himself is said to have portrayed himself. The beggar at Saint John of Nepomuk reportedly has the appearance of his assistant Daniel Pilát from Poříčí.

In the choir there is furthermore an altar of the Prague Infant Jesus and an altar of Saint Anne with statues of Roman soldiers, Saint Donatus, and Saint Theodore. The pulpit on the northern wall of the nave bears three reliefs. They depict the parable of the sower, the end of the world, and the flight of Lot and his wife from Sodom. Below the pulpit stands a pewter baptismal font from sixteen twenty-nine with a Czech inscription. The oratory on the southern side of the nave is decorated, besides two angels, also with a human head with three faces, youthful, masculine, and aged. It symbolizes the course of human life.

In the tower hang two bells from sixteen seventy-three. The larger one is named Havel, the smaller Václav.
