Kostel svatého Petra a Pavla (Podbořany) Church
The church of St. Peter and Paul in Podborány stands on the site of an old Gothic building that existed here in the fifteenth century. This original church burned down in 1599 along with the whole city. The rediscovery of the sacral space took place only in the eighteenth century - the present Baroque church was built in 1781.
The construction is a single boat with a triangular presbytery and sacristy on the north side. The dominant element of the church is the prism tower on the западí side, below which the main entrance opens. The facade of the ship is broken down by pilasters, presbytery and sacristy have a breakdown of lizene frames. Roof cover required a high-value vault in presbyterium and sacristii, the ship is a glass of high-value vaults with sections coming out of half-pillars. The pulpid halibut arch of the circle rests on two massive Tuscan columns. There is a stucco mirror at the top of the vault.
The interior dates back to the second half of the eighteenth century and retains its rustic character without classical sweetening. The equipment is characterised by a flat rocaic ornament. The main altar carries a wall portal architecture with a 20th century image and two statues of saints. Part of the church are side altars dedicated to St. John the Nepomuk and St. John the Baptist at the triumphant arch, and in the altar of the Mother of God and the Holy Heart of the Lord. The Baroque stone baptizer is original. In the presbytery are statues of St. Joseph and St. Florian, and in the ship are statues of St. John Nepomuk and St. Dominic. The wall is decorated with painted fillings.
The church is owned by a late Baroque rectory from 1788, a simple one-storey building with Lizzy facades and valene vaults on the ground floor. Near the church stands the column of the Holy Trinity, dating back to around 1700 and was renewed in 1868. The church is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.
