Kostel svatých Petra a Pavla (Jirny) Church
The Church of St. Peter and St. Paul is situated in Brandýská Street in the centre of Jiřné on the premises and is one of the locally important sacral buildings of the Czech Republic. It is a monument-protected parish temple, which protection covers not only the church itself, but also the solitaire bell tower, sculptures including the statue of St. Tadeas and the Cross with the crucified, fenced wall with gates and the corresponding land.
The costal structure has deep roots in the Gothic tradition. The single-boat temple dates from the 14th century and is first mentioned in written sources in 1367. From this time he survived a presbytery, which forms the oldest part of the church. During the Baroque period, there was a significant reconstruction - in 1728, a rectangular monship with a sacristy on the north side was added to the presbytery. Even earlier, in 1717, the northwest main building was built a solitary prism bell tower, which became part of the skeletal area.
The architecture of the church harmoniously combines elements of different styles. The building is a rectangular shape with a saddle roof decorated with overalls. The presbytery has a special five-sided shape and is adjacent to an irregular shaped sacristy. The facade is in a baroque style divided with a characteristic volut shield, decorated by semi-figures of saints. In the south wall was preserved the gothic lining of a walled-up window, reminiscent of earlier repairs. The temple is lit by four rectangular windows with semi-circular laws.
The entrance to the church consists of a smooth stone portal with two pieces on the sides, in which are located sandstone statues of St. Peter and St. Paul - patrons of the temple. The interior is characterized by its simplicity. The ship has a flat ceiling and a circle in the western part, carried by two massive pillars. The big victory arch is formally aligned with the edge of the door leading to the sacristy. The presbytery is glazed with an elegant cross rib arch with a round clamp, while the sacristy has rolled arches. The presbytery is located to the right of the main altar of the two-digit seat and to the left a rectangular sandbox with a wooden grid. The stone polygonal baptizer deserves attention in front of one of the side altars, which bears carved ornamental decoration. Other interior equipment is mostly wooden.
The Church of Saint Peter and Paul is an interesting example of the symbiosis of Gothic foundations and baroque treatment. The historical elements of the past and carefully designed interior details are interesting for the visitor. As a protected monument, they deserve the care and attention of those who value the wealth of the Czech sacral heritage.

The Roman Catholic parish Church of Saints Peter and Paul stands in the center of Jirnů on a hill in Brandýská street. It is protected as a cultural monument. The protection concerns not only the church itself, but also an independently standing bell tower, a statue of Saint Thaddeus, a cross with a Crucifix, the base of the cross which has not been preserved, and the boundary wall with gates.
The church is Gothic in its core and dates from the 14th century. It is first mentioned in the year 1367. From that time, the presbytery has been preserved, that is the space around the main altar. In 1728, it was followed by a rectangular single-nave structure and a sacristy on the northern side of the presbytery. A little earlier, in 1717, an independent pyramidal bell tower grew up to the northwest of the church.
The church is covered with a gabled roof with roof tiles. The presbytery is five-sided, the sacristy on the northern side has an irregular shape. The façade is divided in the Baroque style and culminates in a volutive gable decorated with half-figures of saints. In the southern wall, there remains a Gothic frame of a bricked-up pointed window, a reminder of the oldest form of the building. Today the church is lit by four rectangular windows with semicircular tops. A smooth stone portal is framed by niches with sandstone statues of Saint Peter and Saint Paul.
The nave inside has a flat ceiling. The gallery in the western part is supported by two pillars. The pointed triumphal arch between the nave and presbytery is profiled similarly to the frame of the entrance to the sacristy. The sacristy has a barrel vault, the presbytery has a cross rib vault with a circular keystone. To the right of the main altar is a two-seat sedile, that is a niche for seating for clergy. To the left is a rectangular sanctuary with a wooden grille, a shrine in the wall. In front of the right side altar stands a stone polygonal baptismal font with carved ornamental decoration. The rest of the church furnishings are wooden.
