Rangherka Town hall

Rangherka, also known as Vršovický château, is a historical monument in Vršovice, Prague 10. The building, built in the middle of the 19th century, was originally used as a silk factory and is now a state-protected cultural object. Its history dates back to the Italian merchant Giuseppe Rangheri, who established his business here in the 1970s, to the present form of Dom's satisfied old age.

The creation of the Ranghera is closely linked to the development of European industry, particularly in the area of silk production. Giuseppe Rangheri from Lombardy settled on the site of today's building and contributed to the flowering of silkworm orchards necessary for silkworm breeding. After his death, his son Enrico (Jindřich) Rangheri established a two-storey building designed to breed these creatures.

The architecture of the building went through several phases. Although it was built as a factory, in 1899-1900 it was rebuilt into a neo-Renaissance style. It was this reconstruction that gave her a distinctive look that still distinguishes her.

The ownership and administration of the building changed over time. After Enrich Rangheri's death, the building was transferred to the property of the village of Vršovice in 1882. Subsequently, until 1974, the District National Committee of Prague 10 was located here. Then the building was abandoned and used as a warehouse.

Among the major milestones of rangherka's history are the neo-Renaissance reconstruction in 1899-1900 and the last reconstruction completed in 2014. The building, which had been neglected for a long time and attacked by mold, was subsequently restored and transformed into a home of satisfied old age.

Today, Rangherka is open to the public as an area providing services to seniors. There is a representative ceremonial hall for weddings and welcoming the smallest citizens. The special glass sculpture installed in the hall can be lit according to the wishes of the wedding guests, which gives the space a unique character.

Rangherka represents not only a monument to architectural and industrial development, but also an important place for the elderly community. Its history and current function make it an interesting destination for visitors to Prague 10.
