Let us now return together in time more than a hundred years back, until Prostějov developed as the center of the textile industry and the wealth of the families here sought expression in stone and concrete. It was a time of great change and new visions. It was in the years of nine hundred ten to nine hundred eleven that this villa arose. Its creator was the architect Emil Králík, who had the task of creating a space that would not only serve as a comfortable home but also represent the status of the owner. The implementation of this ambitious plan was entrusted to the local construction firm FinecchNelík, which shows that even at that time it was betting on local craft championships and quality.

Now pay attention to the architecture itself. If you look at the overall composition of the house, you will notice that it is a representative of Czech modern style. What does that even mean in practice? It is a direction that began to drift away from the overloaded ornaments of the past century and sought a path to cleaner lines, functionality and harmony. But Emil Králík added something very specific to his proposal. Notice the elements that are typical of English family houses. It's the sense of coziness associated with certain nobility and discretion that is so characteristic of British architecture.

Now look at the space outside the building. Your attention should be on the so-called honor court. It's the space that served to welcome guests and gave the house a touch of nobility. Notice here the arcades that create rhythmic transitions between outer and inner space. The arcades are not only an aesthetic element, but they also create a game of light and shadow that gives the building depth and dynamics. It is these details that make the villa Kovářík a unique monument, which is unprecedented in Prostějov.

In the early years of the twentieth century, this building was the seat of a major industrialist František Kovářík. Imagine the discussions that have taken place here, the trade networks that have been involved here and the family traditions that have been established in these walls. Blacksmith was not only the owner of the house, he was a man who influenced the development of the whole region by his activities. Josef Růžička is associated with this place. The names of these men are engraved in the history of the city and this villa is the most visible proof of their influence and success.

However, if we move in the honor court, we will encounter one of the most fascinating and sad parts of the history of this house. Notice the location of the figure fountain. It is because of this element that the house in the past in folk language has been called The Black Virgin. It's a name that carries secrets and a certain amount of romance. A beautiful bronze statue was placed on the fountain, which dominated the entire courtyard. Unfortunately, however, something happened in the year one thousand nine hundred ninety-four shocked the locals and the landlords. The bronze statue was stolen.

Interesting legends have developed around this loss, which are still circulating in Prostějov. Some claim that the statue depicted the owner's niece, others believed it was the form of Queen Cleopatra. This mystery from the menghu gives the villa a certain touch of mystery. Although the statue is missing today, its absence paradoxically attracts attention and forces us to think about what we lost and what stories were hidden in these walls. It is a reminder that monuments are not only about matter, but also about the memories and myths that we create about them.

The villa of František Kovářík has been through various stages over the years. Its value was officially recognised in the year of a thousand nine hundred fifty-eight, when it was entered on the list of protected buildings. This ensured that her unique face was preserved for us visitors of today. The building has also become a popular place for creators. Its authentic atmosphere and beautiful exteriors attracted in the year two thousand fourteen producers of the TV series Četnický humoresky. When you look at the house, try to imagine how work was done here at the time of the shooting, how actors in period costumes moved around and how perfectly this architecture helps to tell stories from the past.
