Rodný dům Aloise Jiráska in the municipality of Hronov between Nádůž and Polic nad Metuje is a protected cultural monument of the Czech Republic. This low grafted and walled house with classical tripartite layout was built in the 18th century by Jakub Jirásek, the grandfather of a famous writer. The construction is remarkable by its architecture, historical roots and by the birth of one of the most important Czech literary authors. Today, the building is managed by the Museum of Náchodska and is open to the public.

The house was built in the 18th century. Its architecture reflects the typical elements of the then rural buildings, such as grafted and walled structures, oblique side lights and rounded walls. The layout is classically three-piece: it contains a skylight on the east side, a walled black kitchen at the east wall of the hall and a two-track rear part with a chamber and a barn. This type of construction is characteristic of the period of national renewal, when Czech rural architecture developed in line with the needs of the then inhabitants.

The house was owned by the Jirasque family. After Jakub, he was inherited by the son of Joseph, the father of Alois, who ran the bakery here. In 1851 Alois Jirásek, a later major writer, was born here. After the death of the Jirasky family, the house changed its owner several times, until, in 1925, the town of Hronov bought it for the occasion of Aloise's 70th birthday. The reconstruction took place in 1955-1957, which returned it to its original form and made it accessible to visitors.

The key event in the history of the house was the birth of Alois Jirásek on 23 August 1851. This contributed to later recognition of the building as a cultural monument. Close to the house were once primitive baths with vans near mineral springs Hronovka and Regnerka, which Jirásek's father founded for therapeutic purposes. However, these spas died over time and were renewed after World War II.

Today the home of Alois Jiráska is managed by the Museum of Náchodska. The interior includes a skylight which served as a family bakery; is equipped with folk furniture and non-original equipment. There is a sales place on weekends. You can also see the saint where Jirásek had his room during his studies. The park with mineral springs Hronovka and Regnerka near the house gives this historic place another interesting thing.

Rodný dům Aloise Jiráska is not only a monument to Czech architecture, but also a witness to the life and creation of one of the most important Czech writers. Its history and current museum management offer visitors the opportunity to become acquainted with the rich cultural heritage of the region. It is a place worth visiting not only literature lovers but also all who want to understand the history and development of Czech rural housing.
