The new portal for this passage was created in 1510-1511 from the workshop of Renaissance master Antonín Pilgrама and belongs to the most famous architectural elements of the town hall. The portal is decorated with five musical sculptures, with the middle viola characterised by distortion. According to local legend, this asymmetry was supposed to be Pilgram's revenge for not paying him an agreed price.
In 1577 Pietro Gabri increased the tower by about four metres and equipped it with a view gallery. In the next decade, Renaissance arcade stoves were built in the town yard.
