U Nikolajky 31 Villa

U Nikolajky 31, also known as Villa U Bednáří, is a Art Nouveau house located in the street U Nikolajka on Prague's Smíchov. This monument was built in 1904 and stands as a reminder of the architectural art of the early twentieth century. The original owners were the head of the Smichov Police Václav Řešátko and his wife Marie, for which the villa was established under the direction of architect Alois Korda. A remarkable element is the character with the initials of the original owners on the facade of the rear side of the building. In 1993 the villa was listed on the list of cultural monuments of the Czech Republic, which confirms its historical and architectural value.

The creation of this Art Nouveau villa is closely linked to the development of Prague's Smíchova in the early twentieth century. This period was characterised by intense urbanization and the emergence of new luxury neighborhoods, where Art Nouveau style plays a key role.
