Věž na sušení hadic Tower
Věž na sušení hadic in Králová Lípa in the district of Děčín is a unique technical monument from the 19th century. This is the only preserved part of the original firehouse which is registered in the Central List of Real Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic.
The creation of the building is related to the development of voluntary fire brigades in Europe and Czech countries. At that time, the construction of specialised infrastructure was necessary to protect the population from fires.
This three-storey building is performed in a neo-Renaissance style. The ground floor with a rectangular plan is lined with brick. There is a segmentally sealed entrance on the south side and a window on the opposite side. The ground floor is supplemented by armour indicated by brick masonry. The upper floors are vertically formatted and separated by plank cordon moldings.
The roof above the third floor is mansard and covered with sheet metal. The lower part of the building, extending to the second floor, ends with a half album. It is supported by four consoles coming out of the shield, which serves as a cortex. There's a small window in the shield. The east facade contains three windows on the first and second floors and two windows on the third floor. The north side has one window on each floor, while the west side doesn't.
Interesting is the west side of the tower with the door. They had previously fallen on a bridge leading to the cemetery, but they were no longer preserved. The interior consists of floors connected with covered wooden staircases, the ground floor does not lead to the first floor of the staircase.
The tower is located in Hospital Street in the area of a newer firehouse, approximately 100 metres north of Křinický Square. It coincides with the eastern supporting wall of the cemetery, which surrounds the Baroque church of St. Mary Magdalena, the dominant town centre.
The object represents a rare example of historical technical architecture intended for the maintenance of firefighting equipment. It is a valuable addition to the urban structure of the Beautiful Lips and is worth a visit thanks to the preservation of the original 19th century infrastructure.
