The building's design and architecture are characteristic of the Neo-Renaissance style, featuring a Greek cross floor plan and a semi-circular apse on the south side. The exterior walls are clad in sandstone, while the interior was designed by local painter August Frind, who created a cycle of frescoes depicting the different stages of human life, titled "The Journey of Life."
