The Lower Mill, also known as the Lizek Mill, is a baroque water mill located on the Mítovský stream in the village Nové Mitrovice, the district of Pilsen-South. This historical object is protected as a real-estate cultural monument of the Czech Republic and represents one of the last complete Czech compositions in Podbrdsk. Its importance lies not only in its architectural value, but also in the rich history it has preserved.

The mill was founded in 1680 during the Baroque period, when many building buildings were expanded and reconstructed in the Czech Republic. This period followed a 30-year war whose effects on the region were still felt. The molten building of the mill dates back to the end of the 18th century and its equipment from the 19th century. The batting wheel, which is part of this device, was installed in 1888.

The history of the mill probably dates back to 1617, when it is stated that it was already standing here. The original owner was Metropolitní kapitula u sv. Víta v Praze. In 1713, the miller Pavel Holub z Borovna paid to the authorities of interest in the form of 12 strychelles of rye and 6 gold, indicating the economic importance of the mills of that time. In 1752 he was a miller of Vojtěch Šrámek, who paid interest of 50 gold.

In 1820, he transferred the property to Antonín Moser, the son of the owner of the neighboring equipment Hamr Wolfgang Moser. Antonín Moser was Mayor of Mítov between 1886 and 1901, but he allegedly neglected and devoted himself to writing, history and politics. In 1939, František Moser bought the mill from the Metropolitan Capital.

The architecture of the mill is characteristic of its grafted construction from the end of the 18th century, which was designed to use water energy efficiently. The mill is part of the layout of the house and water on the water wheel led the drive from the pond through the vantroku. Through the drains, the water returned to the creek. The pond above the mill originally had an area of 17.5 hectares, but after the flood in 1925 it was not restored.

Today, the Lower Mill (Liskov) in Mítov near Nové Mitrovice is accessible to visitors and stands behind interest in its historical value and preservation. It is a rare example of a complete Czech composition that provides insight into the technique and life of past generations. Visiting this mill is not only a way into history, but also an opportunity to appreciate the lasting value of cultural heritage.

The Lower Mill in Mítov is therefore more than just an ancient building. He is a living witness to history that reminds us of the importance of preserving and recognising our cultural wealth. Visiting this place is not only for historians and lovers of architecture, but also for anyone interested in the past and its influence on the present.
