Vodní nádrž Jezeří is a dam located on the territory of the Podhorí near Vysoké Pec and in the municipality of Jezeří, located in the district of Most in the Ústí region. This monument is located in the middle of the National Nature Reserve Lake on the village creek in the Krušné Mountains between the hills Jezeří and Jedlová. It was originally built as part of the water management system for the North Bohemian brown coal pans, serving as a source of drinking water for several municipalities. Today, it is managed by the State Company of the Water of the Ohře and only fulfils the booking function.

The origin of this dam tank can be dated to the beginning of the 20th century, namely between 1902 and 1904 when it was built by Mořic z Lobkovic. Originally named Moritz-Talsperre in honor of its founder. At that time, the development of industry in the Czech Republic, in particular coal mining, and the water tanks served as important infrastructure elements to support this sector. Mořic z Lobkovic did not see the completion of his project because he died in 1903.

The Jezeří dam is built from a quarry stone and has a typical construction for its time. The crown of the dam is located at an altitude of 471,69 metres with a length of 86,4 metres and a width of 4,02 metres. The maximum height of the dam above the terrain is 17,54 metres. The discharge devices include lower pumps with a capacity of 2 × 0,17 m ³ / s and a safety spill on the right side of the tank. Total overflow capacity at maximum tank level is 12,58 m ³ / s.

The administration and modifications were dealt with by the State Company of the Water of the Ohry. Since 2003 it no longer serves as a water tank, which was due to the sufficient capacity of other larger water tanks and technical operational problems typical of small water works. The dam was preserved, but it still serves as a reserve for possible future use.

The interesting thing is that the dam tank Jezeří is part of the National Nature Reserve of the Lake, which increases its ecological value. Historically, in 1929 and 1934, problems occurred with the capacity of the tank during dry years, when it was necessary to reduce water consumption.

Today Vodní nádrž Jezeří is accessible to visitors and offers the opportunity to explore its historical and natural surroundings. Although it no longer fulfils its original function, it is worth visiting this monument thanks to its significant location and architectural representation. Jezeří offers a unique opportunity to explore the history of regional infrastructure and beauty of the Erzgebirge Mountains.

Vodní nádrž Jezeří is therefore not only a monument to technical art, but also an important element of the natural and cultural landscape. Visiting her means exploring part of the region's history and its current ecology.

Welcome to this historic milestone, water tank Jezeří, located in the middle of the picturesque Krušné Mountains and the National Nature Reserve Lake. As you stand here, it may seem like an ordinary lake, but beneath the surface of the water it hides rich history and architectural awesomeness.

Let's dive into the past. The water tank was built at the beginning of the 20th century as part of a water management system designed for North Bohemian brown coal pans. This project, which was intended to promote coal mining and provide drinking water for several municipalities, was initiated by Mořice of Lobkovice. Although his life ended in 1903, before completing the project, his visionary plan came to life and was implemented between 1902 and 1904.

Look up at the dam: its massive structure is built of quarry stone, which represents an important architectural success. The crown of the dam reaches an altitude of 471.6 metres and still boasts its fortress and beauty. As you explore the area around the tank, you can notice how nature and technology exist together in harmony.

Mořic z Lobkovic was the key personality of this project. His death in 1903 before the construction was completed did not stop his plan, which still manifests itself today in the form of this impressive tank. It is interesting to note that although the project was originally intended as a source of drinking water, the capacity of the tank faced difficulties during the dry years of the 20th century, which led to a repeated reassessment of its function.

Now note the interest associated with this monument: although it no longer fulfils the role of drinking water supply since 2003, tank Jezeří remains a testament to historical efforts and engineering spirit. When walking through the surrounding paths you can feel its influence on the landscape and culture.

We invite you to enjoy other aspects of this place and its natural beauty. Explore the surrounding territory, come and see the diversity of fauna and flora that flourishes here, and let us tell you other chapters of this history that nature and architecture reveal to us. Thank you for your visit to water tank Jezeří. Cheers!
