Bezděkov Castle is a Neo-Gothic castle in Bezděkov, Plzeňský kraj, Czech Republic. Originally built on the site of a Gothic water fortress from the 14th century, it has undergone significant transformations over time. Recognized as a cultural monument since 1958, this historical structure is notable for its architectural evolution and rich history. The castle's current form was redesigned by architect Vojtěch Ignác Ullmann between 1854 and 1856, reflecting the Neo-Gothic style that characterizes it today.

The origins of Bezděkov Castle trace back to a Gothic water fortress constructed in the 14th century. Historical records mention early owners such as Jan z Bezděkova and Jan Bohuchval z Hrádku, who held the estate until 1414. By the mid-15th century, Racek Chlévec z Malšína became the owner. The fortress faced two significant attacks in 1450 and 1468, after which it was restored for agricultural use. In 1555, Viktorin Pek z Římku purchased the dilapidated structure and renovated it with Renaissance elements before converting it into a more residential form.

The architectural journey of Bezděkov Castle is marked by its transformation from a fortified Gothic structure to a Neo-Gothic castle. Initially featuring a large square tower surrounded by irregular six-sided wings, as depicted in an 1811 drawing, the fortress was redesigned in the mid-19th century by Vojtěch Ignác Ullmann. This redesign introduced elements such as polygonal corner towers and cross-vaulted ground floors, enhancing its aesthetic appeal while retaining some of its original features.

Ownership of Bezděkov Castle has changed hands several times throughout history. After Viktorin Pek z Římku's renovations, the estate was acquired by Šebestián František hrabě Künigel z Ehrenburgu a Warthy in 1745. Known for his patronage of the arts, he invited Christian Spiess to manage the estate and later became romantically involved with Spiess’s lover, Sofie Körnerová. In 1820, František Korb z Weidenheimu purchased the castle, leading to its transformation into a Neo-Gothic structure under Ullmann's direction. The Korb family retained ownership until mid-20th century when it passed into state hands. Following political changes in 1989, the castle changed owners multiple times before being acquired by PBS Group a. s. in 2016.

Throughout its history, Bezděkov Castle has witnessed intriguing events and personalities. Christian Spiess, known for his macabre novels, lived here as an estate manager and had a romantic liaison with the castle owner's wife.
