The castle in Loučná nad Desnou was built by the Žerotín family after 1608 in the Renaissance style. In the last quarter of the seventeenth century it was expanded in the Baroque style. The castle together with its park is protected as a cultural monument.
Its predecessor was a smaller hunting lodge which the Žerotín family had built at the end of the fifteenth century. Loučná then belonged to the Velký Losinec estate. In 1608 the Žerotín family began building a second center of their estate in Vízmberk and the castle was constructed by an Italian building workshop. In 1616 an independent estate of Vízmberk was created. It was later joined with Velký Losinec twice and then separated again. In 1770 Jan Karel ze Žerotína was forced to surrender the estate to his creditors. Two years later the castle was purchased by the Velehrad monastery.
Around the castle there was already a garden and seigneurial facilities at that time: a courtyard, a brewery, a distillery, an inn and a mill.
