Žeranovice is located about five kilometers southeast of the center of Holešov in the Kroměříž district. In the middle of the village, on a gentle hill, stands a castle remodeled in the neo-gothic style. Today it serves the municipal office and part of the ground floor is occupied by a restaurant. Since May 3rd, 1958, it has been protected as a cultural monument.
The castle originated from a fortress. In 1629, it was acquired by Albrecht Kotulínský z Kotulína. Probably still under the Kotulínskis, before the middle of the 17th century, the fortress was converted into a Renaissance castle. From 1661, Žeranovice belonged to the Říkovský z Dobrčic family.
