Česká menšinová škola in Moravian Třebová is an important cultural monument, which represents an interwar modern. Registered in the list of cultural monuments on March 12, 2014, located on Svitavská street in the village Předměstí. It is an important example of architectural principles inspired by the Dutch movement De Stijl.

The history of the school building dates back to 1920, when the first minority school was founded. Due to the growing number of pupils, she moved to an orphanage on Evíčská Street in 1924. In 1925-1926 a new building was built, designed by architect Vojtěch Vaník. The project was commissioned by the Ministry of Public Works and implemented by the Prostějov company Hrbata and Smekal under the supervision of the construction board František Mouček. The opening ceremony of the newly built school took place on 22 August 1926, when it was accepted as a spectacular national festival by a Czech minority in the city.

The architecture of the building is characteristic of interwar modern and reflects the influence of the Dutch movement De Stijl. The school consists of three single-storey tracts with valbed roofs which turn large windows into Svitavska Street and a recessed entrance to the facade side. The original division included the school part with risalite in the north for toilets and kindergarten with its own entrance from the school street. After the change of functionality, the interior was rebuilt, but the original doors and tiles were preserved. The whole building is underlaid with concrete beam ceilings.

For centuries, the school served various purposes, including the branch of the second primary school on Palacký Street and later the seat of the Regional Charity Moravian Trebova. Despite plans for extensions, they have never been implemented, which gives the building a unique historical look.

Today Česká menšinová škola is not only a monument to architecture, but also a witness to an important period of Czechoslovak history. Its preservation and accessibility allow visitors to explore the rich architectural style of interwar modern and to understand the importance of this building for the Czech minority. Visiting this place offers a unique opportunity to appreciate history and architecture, which are important components of the cultural heritage of Moravian Třebová.

Welcome. You have just stopped at a place that carries the echo of ancient times, and at the same time represents a bold view of the future, as people saw before the recent past. You're standing in a part of a city called Předměstí, right on Svitavská Street, and in front of your eyes is a building that is not just a common learning house. It is a symbol of a certain era, a symbol of the pursuit of modern life and cultural identity. Feel this moment, feel the calm of this place and let yourself be carried away by the story these walls hold. This building, a former Czech minority school, is one of the most significant examples of how architecture has been able to date and look for a new, clean language in the modern world during the interwar period.

Let us now return together in time to understand why this building is so important in this place. Imagine the early 1920s. The world was just waking up from a great war, creating new states and new needs for people. In Moravian Třebová lived a significant Czech minority who felt a strong need to have their own educational facilities. They needed a place where children could learn in their parents' language and build their cultural basis. However, the way to this goal was not easy. Since 1920, the school had to move from one location to another, looking for its stable place, its home. And finally, after years of searching and effort, this journey formed here, on Svitavska Street.

If you look at the date of origin itself, you'll see that the key years are between 1925 and 1926. That was a time of great optimism. That's when the school was ceremonially opened and became the heart of the community. This building was not only built as a sanctuary for students, but as an expression of their ambitions and modern spirit.

Now pay attention to the architecture itself, which now surrounds you. Look at the shapes, the lines and the overall structure of the building. Notice how architecture here tries to be honest and functional. This object is an excellent example of interwar modernity. If you look at its breakdown, you can see in it a strong influence of one interesting Dutch artistic movement that focused on purity, geometric accuracy and reversing from unnecessary ornaments. This movement believed that the world should be expressed using baselines and clear surfaces.

This visionary approach to the building was brought by architect Vojtěch Vaník. He was the man who was able to translate these complex artistic ideas into the reality of Svitavska Street. When looking at the building, do not try to find complex sculptures or rich carvings that would be typical of the older times. Instead, look at the rhythm of the windows, the planes of the walls and how the building floats in space. Feel the logic and the order. Vaník created a space here that was supposed to be bright, bright and clear, just as the space for young people's growth and education should be. This architecture speaks in the voice of reason and progress.

Although there were no famous political figures in these areas in the past that would have entered the history books in a golden letter, this school was as important to the local community as any palace. Every teacher, every pupil and every parent who came here was part of something bigger. This building witnessed generations growing up that shaped today's form of this area. It was a silent but relentless force that maintained a living tradition and language at a time when everything around it was changing.

You may now be told whether this building still holds its importance. And the answer is clear. I want to tell you one interesting thing that confirms how much this object is worth. Even after many decades since its opening, it has not lost its weight. On March 12, 2014, this building was officially included in the list of cultural monuments. It's not just a formal paperwork. It is a recognition that this piece of Vojtěch Vaník's architecture is an untouchable legacy that we must protect for future generations. It is a confirmation that his vision of the modern world was correct and that his work still exerts force.

Today, the building serves other purposes than before, but its spirit remains the same. It still stands here as a fixed point in time, as a reminder of a time when people looked forward fearlessly.

I hope this brief insight into the history and architecture of this school has enriched you. You're facing something special. I suggest you continue your walk around the building. Try to look at it from other angles, observe how light changes on its surfaces and how its geometric shapes connect to the surrounding installation. Every detail you see here is part of a great story about finding beauty in simplicity and the power of education. Thank you for spending this moment with us. I wish you a beautiful and inspirational further journey along the Moravian Třebová.
