The Angel House, also known as In paradise, stands at the crossroads of Little Square and Charles Street in Prague Old Town. This historic building is recognized as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. Its origin dates back to the end of the 13th century when it began as a Romanesque structure. In the middle of the 14th century it evolved into a Gothic building and was associated with remarkable historical figures such as Angelo of Florence, a pharmacist during the reign of King Charles IV. The house is also connected to the mysterious Voynich manuscript.

The oldest documented mention of the House of Angels dates back to 1374. At the beginning, a Romanesque building with three rooms appeared at the end of the 13th century. In the middle of the 14th century it transformed into a large Gothic structure characterized by walls up to the second floor. During the late Gothic period, an architectural arched room assigned to Matìj Rejsek was added to the courtyard. The Renaissance period has brought further adjustments, including ground ceilings, which remain today.

Angelo of Florence is a key historical figure associated with the House of the Angel. During King Charles IV's reign, he ran a pharmacy here, and it's speculating that he's connected to Voynich's handwriting, adding scheming to the history of the building. At the end of the 19th century, the house was known as Ericsson because of its connection with the Swedish telecommunications company L. M. Ericsson. A plaque called "Ericsson" was displayed on the facade until the late 1970s and is still visible in films from this time.
