The Chapel of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in Borovy is a notable rural classical-style chapel located in the village of Borovy within the Plzeň-jih district. Dedicated to the feast of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, this chapel stands out for its unusual façade division featuring a portico. Although it belongs to the Roman Catholic parish of Merklín and falls under the vicariate of Plzeň-jih in the Plzeň diocese, regular services are not held there. The chapel has been protected as a cultural monument since 1964.

The origins of this chapel trace back to 1703 when Martin Falout vowed to build it after recovering from an illness. According to local chronicles, Falout, who had journeyed from Bavaria and fallen ill in Borovy, promised to construct the chapel if he recovered. Fulfilling his vow, he erected a small wooden structure dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Another version suggests that the chapel was built by vicar Jan Tiebl with contributions from many donors. This early wooden chapel housed a statue of the Virgin Mary, believed to be modeled after one commissioned for St. John the Baptist Church in Vřesovice.

Architecturally, the original wooden structure underwent significant changes over time. By 1764, it was replaced by a brick building that was whitewashed both inside and out. In 1768, a porch was added to its east side. The chapel's current classical style emerged from its reconstruction in 1834, reflecting broader European architectural trends of the era. This transformation culminated in its re-consecration on September 8, 1835, by vicar Jan August Biebel.

Throughout its history, the chapel has experienced various fortunes and events. In the early 18th century, when it was first constructed, Bohemia was part of the Habsburg Monarchy, a period marked by Baroque art and architecture. The classical style adopted during its reconstruction in 1834 mirrored broader European trends. A significant event occurred when the original wooden chapel's statue of the Virgin Mary was stolen; however, local residents funded a new chapel and restored the statue with new garments and a jeweled crown.

Today, the Chapel of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary stands as a cultural monument in Borovy, protected since 1964. It is situated near a historic Borovská linden tree and close to the Plzeň–Klatovy–Železná Ruda railway line, within an area defined by local roads, the Borovský brook, and the I/27 highway. Although regular services are not held, the chapel remains a site of pilgrimage, particularly during processions on September 8 as part of the poutní slavnosti Narození Panny Marie Borovské. These processions attract around 150 participants, including many in traditional attire, making it an event worth witnessing.
