Kostel svatého Kříže a Všech svatých Church

The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and All Saints is a Roman Catholic parish church in Pšov in the Louny region. It has been a cultural monument since 1964.

Its predecessor was the Church of All Saints on a hilltop west of the village, at the site of the old cemetery at the crossroads of paths to Podbořany and Dolánek. Based on its ancient dedication and known owners of the village, it could have been founded by the Johannites in the second half of the twelfth century, or by Zbraslav of Miletín in the nineteen-thirties of the thirteenth century. Beside it stood a bell tower with two bells from the years 1498 and 1551. In 1660 the tower received a new cupola, in 1734 the entire structure had to be rebuilt and in 1741 a new roof was added. During the Seven Years' War the church was severely damaged. Priest Václav Hlava therefore asked the grand master of the order of the Knights of the Red Star Suchánek in 1765 for the construction of a new one.

The grand master agreed, but stipulated that the new church would be built in the village square. The foundation stone was laid on June twenty-first, seventeen sixty-five. A year later the old church was demolished, as was the Chapel of the Five Wounds of Christ in the square. Several stone carvings from the old church were found in May 1933 in a sandpit about a kilometer and a half west of Pšov. Previously they had been used in the construction of a cellar.

The Baroque structure cost five thousand gold coins and was completed in the fall of 1766. The main dedication became the Holy Cross, the original dedication to All Saints transferred to the new church as a secondary one. Both bells were also moved here. The bell from 1551 has been preserved with a Latin inscription, the work of Tomáš Jaroš from Brno. In 1904 the church caught fire and was subsequently renovated in the Neo-Baroque style.

It is a single-nave structure with a rectangular floor plan and a presbytery closed off in a three-sided shape. Attached to its southern side is an extension with a sacristy on the ground floor and an oratory on the upper floor. In the axis of the western façade stands a prismatic tower with an entrance hall. The façades and interior of the nave are articulated by doubled pilasters. The nave has a flat ceiling on a high frieze, the presbytery a barrel vault ending with a conch.

The furnishings are mostly Rococo from the second half of the eighteenth century. Above the doors of the main portal altar stand statues of saints. The side panel altars are dedicated to the Virgin Mary and Saint John of Nepomuk. There is also a pulpit with figurative relief and a Baroque baptismal font from the seventeenth century. The doors of the main entrance also date from the second half of the same century.

South of the church stands on a high Tuscan column a seated statue of the Virgin Mary from around seventeen hundred. A little further in the square is a statue of Saint Florian from seventeen fifteen, erected on the site of a vanished chapel. Both statues are protected as monuments.
