Martinický dvůr, also known as the Pansky Court or the Pansky House, is a one-storey Baroque building located on the south side of Masaryk Square in Sláňé, Kladno district. This historical building was built in 1629 and entered in the national list of cultural monuments in 1967. The house is remarkable by its architectural structure, which symbolizes the political and religious changes taking place in the Czech Republic during the counter-reformation.

The formation of the Martinique Court is closely linked to the historical context of the 17th century, when major events related to counter-reform and centralisation of power under the Habsburg government took place in the Czech Republic. Jaroslav Bořita z Martinic, ruler of the House of Pudding, built a new house in 1629 as a symbolic suppression of the city and its subordination to Martinique. This move was part of a wider effort by the Catholic Church to suppress Protestantism.

Architecturally, the house is a single-storey house with Baroque layout, preserving elements from the late 18th century and classicist vaults. The facade oriented to the square is five-axis with a stone portal decorated with plastic lining, which was once decorated with the characters of Martinique and Sternberk. The house has a valbo Mansard roof and preserved the cellars from former medieval houses.

The ownership and administration of the yard have changed over the years. After his position, the house was the seat of the supreme administration, which also grew here a brewery activity. The brewery and the malting plant were abolished in 1884 and the building of the town school was built instead. This change reflected a new function of the building in the company.

The key events in the history of the Martinique Court are its creation in 1629 and the demise of the brewery in 1884. These moments reflect not only architectural, but also social-political changes in the Salty.

Today Martinický dvůr is a cultural heritage and is worth visiting for its history and architecture. The preservation of the original elements and its location in Masaryk Square makes it an important monument that reminds of the region's rich heritage. Visiting this place offers an insight into the past and an understanding of the historical processes that shaped the current landscape.

Martinický dvůr is a reminder of an important period in Czech history. His visit offers not only a view of architectural beauty, but also a deeper understanding of historical events and their impact on the local community.

Welcome to Salty, a place full of history and beauty! You are standing in front of the Martinique Court, a one-story Baroque building built at the end of the 17th century. This house opens the door to the past and offers you a look at the time when the city's fates were firmly linked to powerful families.

Let's look at the history of this place. The house was created in 1629 as a symbolic suppression of the Salty and its subordination to Martinique, namely Jaroslav Boríto of Martinique. It was built during the counter-reformation when the Habsburgs' powers sought to centralize and consolidate their control over the region. This house served as the headquarters of the supreme administration and later developed a brewery, which was cancelled in 1884.

Look up at the front of the building. Although architects are not known, its one-story Baroque structure tells the story of the rich past and artistic taste of the time. Note the straight rows of window holes and elegant facade that will lift you to the era of Baroque.

Now let us pay attention to the key figures involved in this place. Jaroslav Bořita z Martinic was one of the most important figures of the time, his name is inseparably linked to the creation of this court. His role in shaping the history of the Salt cannot be underestimated.

The interesting thing about this place is that it was only included in the national list of cultural monuments in 1967. This tells us about its lasting historical value and how the attitude towards historical care evolved over the centuries.

Let's get to the bottom of our guide. Martinický dvůr is not only an architectural pearl, but also a witness to the region's rich history. I hope you've noticed at least part of his beauty and history. If you want to explore more, Slaný offers many other attractions. Thank you for your attention and I hope you enjoyed it!

Tips for visitors

The best times for visiting are spring and autumn months when the weather is suitable for walking. The building is located in the centre, so it can be easily included in the track around the historical heart of Salty.

For the best photos we recommend a visit in the afternoon when the south side of the square receives direct sunlight, which will highlight the details of the Baroque facade. Focus on the exterior appearance of a single-storey building.

We recommend taking comfortable shoes for walking on paving surfaces. Families with children are advised to tell about the history of the building as a symbol of power and subordination, which will help children better understand the ancient history of the city.
