The ruined castle of Mladá Vožice stood in the town of the same name in the Tábor region, on a hilltop between the town center and Podhradní pond, at an elevation of 495 meters. Today, the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary stands on its site, which has been protected as a cultural monument since 1958. From the castle itself, only small pieces of walls remain.
The castle was probably founded by King Václav the Second. He wanted to strengthen the ruler's influence in the region after the Vítkovec family acquired the nearby castle Hradiště. The first written mention comes from the year 1318. The castle was then pledged to Vilém and later to Velislav of Vožice. The pledges were repeated later as well. Charles the Fourth redeemed the castle from Litold of Landštejna and included it in his intended code Majestas Carolina among castles that could only be pledged under certain conditions.
